After a few weeks of song contests, real time episodes and walkabout adventures, Paul and Eli are back in the House of Sausage and Eggs for some wholesome and earthy cheap and cheerful segments. They’ve found some proper discount snacks this week, tasting a range of budget bites and fizzy delights. There’s an Irish Monster Munch knock-off to sample, something a little tasty for instant noodleheads, a traditional potato snack with a confounding gimmick and a soft drink from India that is more fascinating than the cheap chaps first think! Sadly, any joy taken from these nibbles will be sapped away in the Silverman’s Platter segment. It unleashes three truly soul crushing audio oddities that range from the saccharine to the outright offensive. Can you survive these vinyl record hellscapes? Paul and Eli are barely able to! Despite all of this, one question remains… Who Am The Panty Man? You’ll regret asking, that’s for sure.
Actually no… One more question! Who the hell puts a serial killer’s painting for sale in a charity shop?

Ep 338: Who Am The Panty Man?

What’s wrong with putting a little happiness into the world? Nothing really, but when its folksy positivity is hiding a veneer of corporate soullessness, it’s hard to really get behind those good, life affirming vibes. Paul and Eli discover this the hard way when they attempt to play the “Chicken Soup For The Soul” board game. Will the game bring out the joy of sharing, friendship and laughter, or will it lead to miserable, bitter arguments? If you’ve heard the podcast before, you’ll probably have a fair idea on where this will go… Although you do get a damned fine story from Eli about his brush with cinema glamour, so it’s not a complete loss. As for Paul, he’s lined up a new bunch of tasty contestants for entry into the hallowed Snack Palace. Will any of the crisps chosen make it into the luxury of this abode, festooned with towels? Does it really matter? CheapShow will decide arbitrarily anyway, you just know it.

Ep 339: Chicken Soup For The Hole

It’s a tough week at CheapShow HQ this week and both Paul and Eli are feeling creatively bankrupt. After 340 episodes, they’re worried the end is nigh, but until that day, they will battle on with gusto. To hell with their dignity! There is a Sauce Report and Price of Shite segment to struggle through, and the selection is a proper troubling collection of foul goop and truly odd charity shop curios. It’s going to test whatever is left of the cheap chaps and leave them ruined by the end. To make matters worse, there are dark, evil plans afoot. Somebody is concocting a wicked scheme and they can’t wait to put the final nail in the coffin of the world’s best economy comedy podcast. Is this the end? Or is the start of a new beginning? Ep 340: Death To CheapShow!

There are charity shop goodies galore on CheapShow this week when the Showcase rolls back into town. Paul and Eli have both found a little something special/unusual and have brought it along to CSHQ for discussion and evaluation. We “once again” get to hear about Eli’s upsetting obsession with Tomy toys and Paul “once again” dives into Saturday Morning TV for his own quirky offering. Grown men should not get this excited over pointless nostalgia that isn’t even theirs to remember! There’s a return to the Country Urban Noodle Test Lab Kitchen with an instant noodle that invokes fond memories and minor embarrassment for Eli too. Paul just wants him to shut up and get on with it. There is also a long-awaited tales from the Shop Floor with a particularly stinky celebrity encounter! Eli may have been given a pre-show dressing down, but can he really behave himself when Paul is acting like a proper prick… and will either of them ever get to nail the cold open this week? Why not listen to them try?

Ep 342: Gannon's Golden Quest The Third (MONO)

Some week’s Paul and Eli can afford to take it easy. After the exertions of last week’s epic Golden Quest, it’s probably for the best that they let someone else do the hard work of building an episode. Thankfully, there is a PO Box delivery from listeners Karen and Adam that does all the heavy lifting. Inside (amongst other things) is a carefully curated mix of cheap eats and a pretty solid selection of Price of Shite items. What will they make of the Ketchup crisps, pretzel pieces and Blue Ball Bonbons is anyone’s guess, but the biggest question is who will reign victorious and get the most p’twings in the Price of Shite? The important thing to remember is that despite the open goal they’ve been given, Paul and Eli will find a way to ruin it for themselves. Typical!

Ep 343: An Episode In A Box

Some weeks on CheapShow, things get a little weirder than usual. This is one of those episodes. This week, Paul and Eli enter into the world of “Miss World” competitions. They’ve been given a board game, from the 1970s, that allows young girls a taste of a glamourous pageantry lifestyle. As they learn more about the world-famous beauty contest, the cheap chaps uncover some quite surprising facts. During gameplay, they’ll travel the world, putting on Vegas shows, auditioning for TV adverts and smuggling diamonds out of South Africa!! Who will win the crown? Whoever wins, we’ll all lose. Before all that, Juicy Jeremy has sent a parcel of pop, with three new, cheap soft drinks to evaluate! What will they make of Inca Cola, which is described as a “champagne cola”? Will the two limited edition Irn-Bru drinks pass muster? All will be revealed (maybe too much)!

Ep 345: The Miss World War

Whilst Paul and Eli have carried on regardless, there have been nefarious plans developing in the background and its not good news for the “much loved” economy comedy podcast. Following the shocking events of Red Nob Day, Richard Brandoff and Jimmy Biscuits are living in hiding on a busy roundabout. The other characters are also off the radar, and it looks bad for the extended CheapShow universe. To make matters worse, all those copy characters created by Brandoffski are making a push for dominance and it looks like they're going to succeed. Richard and Jimmy find out about the unbelievable success of “Thrift Pod” starring Saul and Levi and decide to check the podcast out. Turns out it’s pretty similar. Maybe TOO similar. Something is not right here. Why not make up your own mind and listen to both CheapShow AND Thrift Pod… Is this the end of everything we know and love?

Ep 347: Thrift Pod

Special Guest: Gareth Reynolds
Things are looking up for Paul and Eli this week. The big wedding is just around the corner and Thrift Pod has been defeated! To celebrate, Paul ruminates on the dream guest for CheapShow and imagines what it would be like if comedian Gareth Reynolds was on the show. Sadly, this means that the only thing that can ruin this experience is his own imagination. Which it then proceeds to do. Poor Gareth is subjected to perverted personal electric blankets, a rude and vulgar board game, an album from 1980s icon Roland Rat and wraps it all up with a book that seemed more exciting when Paul first saw it… But in actual fact? It doesn’t go well. Along the way, Gareth will learn about “posh wanks”, Kunt and the Gang and tell us all about the Milwaukee Milverine! Thankfully, it’s all in Paul’s head. Or is it?
