“Get Down” is a high-voltage French Touch rush Disco mix — warm, funky, hypnotic and impossible to stand still to. More good value goodness from the Editorial label, one of the few re-edit focused outfits that manage to retain a high level of consistency. The Funk District kicks things off with a fine re-arrangement of an organ and electric piano-focused chunk of sweaty dancefloor soul ("An Evening With El Diablo"), before Matt Hughes gets busy with some elastic slap bass on flash-fried disco-funk revision "Get Down". Elsewhere, Label regulars Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee dip the tempo on the slow and seductive "Slippin", the Owl stomps his way through the P-funk style heaviness of "Funky Feelin" and Cody Currie offers up a hazy sample-house cut rich in jazzy flourishes and warm electric piano chords.

Samosa has had a fine year in 2020 and still has time to squeeze out one more vital disco offering. Following on from afrocentric Souldynamic and C. da Afro releases for the 19th volume of their VA compilation, this time drafted in is Mexican producer The Funk District who serves up four dazzling gems. High energy sounds, 70s film references, Latin flair and cosmic disco all feed into these tracks which are packed with bristling good times, feel good grovers and plenty of hands in the air moments. For us, 'La Rapina' is straight Latin dance floor gold that takes the EP's top slot.

Cheema—derived from the Italian “cima” (ˈʧima), as in “cima di rapa,” “cima di cola,” “cima di Bitonto,” etc.—serves as the human instrument that brings the traditions of Puglia to the club, utilizing electronic music as a universal language for cultural sharing. Since 1996, Cheema has been an integral part of the music scene, starting as a DJ, progressing to a producer, and eventually becoming a live performer with advanced sound management technologies.

The acquisition of new live techniques has enabled Cheema to experiment and collaborate with over 60 musicians to date. This exploration has resulted in diverse musical proposals spanning various genres. Cheema extends the voice of Apulia worldwide with care and special attention, finely balancing the elegance of electronics with the rich tradition of local dialects. This delicate equilibrium exists on the spectrum between experimentation and a dancefloor atmosphere.
