Juls, one of modern Afrobeat’s most prolific creatives, and Sango, the eclectic Seattle DJ and producer, have recorded an inspiring set that brings out the best of both artists. The EP channels the sunny and feel-good spirit that Soulection has become known for: Jazz, Brazilian funk, Afrobeat, House, Latin rhythms, and a feeling of genuine musicianship. The instrumental “Ritmo Coco” shines with shimmering guitar licks that play with whispering piano and dueling flutes that transport the listener to a faraway tropical beach. “Angele Ni Fie” trades flutes for trumpets, has elements of Amapiano, and it features playful vocal samples over a steady yet evolving beat.
