Launched in 2010, THE REFLEX is a project from producer / DJ Nicolas Laugier, a French national based in the UK since 1998. Following on the footsteps of remix / DJ edit pioneers Larry Levan, Shep Pettibone, François Kevorkian or John Luongo, The Reflex somewhat redefined the remix rules book by using stems and multitracks to craft fresh, innovative versions (dubbed ’revisions’) from classics tracks and artists, genre-hopping through the decades and styles with ease, combining creativity and functionality with often spectacular results.
With constant support from superstar DJs, tastemakers, A-list artists and creatives to high profile brands / events through to bedroom DJ’s, The Reflex revisions are now part of the musical landscape.

Clocking over 100M+ streams, The Reflex is a multi-faceted artist that has lent his skills to ads for Louis Vuitton, Karl Lagerfeld, to remixes for the biggest names in pop and dance music, to extensive catalogue revisits for the likes of London Records, Salsoul/Westend and Zagora/Because, to a long standing collaboration with Noel Gallagher and to legendary artists like Joe Walsh (Eagles), Cerrone, Kathy Sledge, Blondie, Michel Polnareff, Nile Rodgers, Rita Lee, Kid Creole and more.
Boasting a strong online following and a loyal fanbase, including 322,000+ fans on YouTube, The Reflex is now ready to move into original productions; his first artist track “Weekend” has been snapped up by Glitterbox for release in May, with Ibiza / Malta gigs and a Defected Basement mix lined up to support the arrival of this first single.
On his own vinyl label Discolidays, The Reflex has collaborated with Because Music in Paris re-imagining the catalogue from (Daft Punk) Thomas Bangalter’s father, Daniel Vangarde, and his label Zagora while showcasing his remix work for Cerrone, Patrice Rushen, D.C. LaRue, Nile Rodgers ft Nubiyan Twist, Bruise and others to commercial and critical acclaim.

He has performed at the big festival or an underground party for over 10 years.

famous pop music artists like Tatsuro Yamashita or YUKI,rock bands,dance music.
In 2009 "Rollin' Rollin'" released by "Tabito Nanao×Yakenohara" became a hot topic,in 2010 he released "THIS NIGHT IS STILL YOUNG",rap album.
In 2013 he released 2nd album "SUNNY NEW LIFE".
As DJ he makes the dance floor excited with a long set using house music,disco music or a wide range select in response to a situation on the spot.

He makes many mixes like "Stones Throw 15 mixed by Yakenohara",official mix for Stones Throw Records 15th anniversary.
And he plays for supporting to the acts in Japan of Giorgio Moroder,Daniel Wang,Dimitri from Paris,Masters At Work,Prins Thomas,Thundercat,CLAP! CLAP!,!!! (Chk Chk Chk),Thomash,Gigi Masin and so on.

He is also active as a member of the ambient unit "UNKNOWN ME”. 
The subtropical-themed work "subtropics" released by LA's long-established indie label Not Not Fun in 2017 was selected as a featured work by FACT Magazine in the UK, and co-starred with Gigi Masin, a key person in ambient revival.

After releasing the LP "BISHINTAI" in 2021, they also appeared in the global festival of electronic music and digital art "MUTEK Montreal 2021" held in Canada and the domestic outdoor music festival in Japan "FESTIVAL de FRUE 2021”.
"BISHINTAI" was also selected as the best of the year for various media in Japan and abroad.

He is also a writer, and published his first book, "Cultural Water Flow Exploration" in October 2018.

DJや作曲、ラップ、執筆業など、多様なフィールドを独自の嗅覚で渡り歩く。

「FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL」などのビッグ・フェスティバルから、アンダーグラウンド・パーティーまで、日本中の多数のパーティーに出演。THE BLUE HEARTS、山下達郎、YUKIといったポップ・アーティスト、ロック・バンド、ダンス・ミュージックなど、100を超える幅広い作品にREMIXなどで参加。　

2009年に七尾旅人×やけのはら名義で「Rollin' Rollin'」をリリース。2010年、ラップ・アルバム「THIS NIGHT IS STILL YOUNG」を、2013年には、セカンド・アルバム「SUNNY NEW LIFE」をリリース。最後の手段が製作した、楽曲「RELAXIN'」のMVが、「第17回文化庁メディア芸術祭」で新人賞を受賞。

DJとしては、ハウスやテクノ、ディスコを中心としたロング・セット、またTPOに応じた幅広い選曲を得意とし、Stones Throw15周年記念のオフィシャルミックス「Stones Throw 15 mixed by やけのはら」など、数多くのミックスを手がけている。

アンビエント・ユニット「UNKNOWN ME」のメンバーとしても活動。2017年に米LAの老舗インディー・レーベルNot Not Funよりリリースした亜熱帯をテーマにした作品「subtropics」が、英FACT Magazineの注目作に選ばれ、アンビエント・リバイバルのキーパーソンであるGigi Masinとも共演。
2021年、LP「BISHINTAI」をリリース後には、カナダで行われた電子音楽とデジタル・アートの世界的な祭典「MUTEK Montreal 2021」、国内の野外音楽フェスティバル「FESTIVAL de FRUE 2021」にも出演。国内外、各種メディアの年間ベストにも選出された。

雑誌「POPEYE」でのコラム連載など、文筆業も行い、2018年10月に初の著作「文化水流探訪記」を青土社から刊行。
