Denver’s own songwriter and owner of Cherry Sound Studios, Christopher Guillot, released his new album, “Remember What You Forgot” on February 14, 2013. His new self-produced record is delightfully unpredictable, integrating a variety of genres ranging from the soothe of jazz, to folk, to classic rock and roll, and even the elegant touch of classical music.

This album in its entirety expresses a weaving idea of thoughtfulness and reminisces, told in an impressionistic manner. The multiplicity of genres suggests the rollercoaster of thought process of the human mind throughout the inevitable instances in life. Guillot’s vocals lend a sensation of warmness, and combined with the colossal accompaniment of orchestral instruments creates a surrounding ambiance of content. The outstanding production value in “Remember What You Forgot” retrieves the lost art of genuine songwriting, therefore creating a classic record! Songs “Paint” and “Fandango” especially exemplify the timelessness Guillot creates.

Guillot’s artistry is strongly influenced by his dad, as well Norman Petty (Buddy Holly’s producer). Alongside imitating the production quality of Petty’s techniques, Guillot’s goal was also to emulate the same feel of simple lyrics with complex arrangements that solely embellish the emotions in each song.

Complimenting the inspiration of 60’s and 70’s music, Guillot cites other musical influences as The Beatles, Elton John, Joan Armatrading, and Neil Young.“Remember What You Forgot” is an incredible album and salvages the purpose of music!
