Dj Monica, born in Umeå is regarded as Sweden's first female Dj. She began working professionally as a Dj 1983 at Sweden's biggest discotheque Universum where she was resident dj for a 10-year period. Dj Monica has been spinning records since the mid 80's at the biggest clubs in Sweden, for example, Café Opera, Daily News Café, Berns, Rex and Spy Bar. She has been a Dj for the King and Queen of Sweden on several occasions and toured with her music all over Sweden and abroad.

Dj Monica has her musical roots in American Funk music with artists like George Clinton and Bootsy Collins plus in the R&B and Hip Hop that was developed during the 80's and 90's. Her Swedish musical mentors are Sidney "Big Brother" Onayemi and Sveriges Radio profile Mats Nileskär - Soul Corner, P3 Soul. Artists that Dj Monica admires are Missy Elliot, Timbaland, Neptunes, Gang Starr, Joe, Angie Stone, Lil Kim, Ryan Leslie, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Raphael Saadiq, D'Angelo and many others. Her favorite tune of all time is "Never Buy Texas From A Cowboy by The Brides Of Funkenstein, produced by George Clinton.

Dj Monica was a active member in Sister Stockholm which was a Dj collective with ten Swedish female dj's with interest in music and technology. With Sister Stockholm they could meet and discuss and help each other with development and gigs. Dj Monica has also been a member of the Dj collectives Love Boat and Soul Train, the later, she was one of the founders of in 2010.

In her spare time produces and composes Dj Monica her own music and helps new artists / young Dj´s with coaching. She has a new Dj project on the go called 1 Nation.
