Groove Service is a group of musicians based in Northern California that share a strong passion for jazz. Driven by Raymond's lively piano style, the band delivers spirited arrangements of their favorite tunes, as well as hot new originals. Having rolled their own piano out to the streets of downtown Santa Cruz on many occasions, Groove Service is dedicated to sharing their music with anyone who will listen.

Sol Rising crafts alchemical musical journeys one ecstatic beat at a time. His original soundscapes evoke feelings of bliss throughout an eclectic mix of hip-hop, funk, soul, reggae, and electronic dance beats.

Born in Vancouver BC, Brandon began meditating at age four with a walking mantra technique. His mother took him to visit numerous spiritual teachers, who inspired him on the spiritual path he walks today. As a teenager, he became a hip hop fanatic.
His rooted interest in hip hop led him to learning the art of scratching — using turntables as musical instruments. Sol Rising soon became one of America’s top scratch DJs, winning second place at the DMC, the world’s most prestigious DJ competition.

After graduating in the top 5% of his accounting class at University of Iowa, he realized accounting was not his path. A journey to India illuminated his true calling — to light up people’s awareness of their true nature through music. This lead him to study audio engineering and production at Pyramind Studios in San Francisco and produce his first album, "I AM Soul."

Now a successful Producer/DJ, Sol Rising plays major events across the West Coast, including Burning Man, Symbiosis and Lightning in a Bottle. He has opened for major acts such as Beats Antique, and produced official remixes for artists including Jai Uttal, Mochipet, David Starfire, Delhi 2 Dublin, Kirtaniyas, and more. With a fervent following in the Ecstatic Dance scene, he has headlined Ecstatic Dance Retreat Hawaii, and is a fixture at Ecstatic Dances across the country. Sol Rising has been featured in major media outlets including the Washington Post, and his music has been enjoyed by over one million viewers in a viral YouTube video.

Kasia, or Katherine Aynur Kugay, was born and raised in San Francisco by Polish and Turkish parents. Embedded in her folk is the traditional music of the Black Sea, a jazz bent, and lyrical themes of land and love. Admired for her velvety tone of voice, rhythmic guitar work, and clever lyricism, Chicken Mama has been likened to Joni Mitchell, Regina Spektor, and Joanna Newsom.

From roots in late 90s live HipHop scene in Boston into DnB, through the breakbeat revolution of the early 2000s, Sayv1 has gone by many names, gracing the stage many times at Virus Breaks Tuesdays as an MC and poet.  With HipHop forever in his bloodstream, he has been part of Cre8ive Minds, MegaForce, Probable Cause, The Planetarian Sound System and more.  Originally from Eugene, OR, Sayv1 has performed slam poetry in Australia, Hawaii, Boston, Portland, Santa Cruz, Chiang Mai, Thailand, and Mexico where he now resides.  He is an avid freestyler (in private, mostly), and a hobby DJ as OBLSK. See link for more mixes on Mixcloud. Singer/songwriter Joe Kaplow lives in a four-acre mansion in the hills of Santa Cruz. Of course, he shares the space with a group of hippies, some rats, and some very dilapidated floors and walls... but it does have a swimming pool.

For Kaplow, becoming a full-time musician - and adopting the lifestyle that often accompanies it - didn’t happen by accident. Having moved from farm life and family in New Jersey to the rich Santa Cruz music community, Kaplow has often found himself living paycheck to paycheck as he departs on three-month U.S. solo tours, records music in various bedrooms of the house where he lives, rehearses with his new band and writes constantly, dedicating himself fully and lovingly to the craft of songwriting.

Kaplow’s debut album Time Spent In Between is  simultaneously grounded and exploratory; the music is equal parts  intimate and expansive.  With raw instrumentation and earthy vocal melodies, Time Spent In Between is rich with folk songwriting brilliance.
