Miles Davis was once asked, "Would you be a musician if nobody ever heard you?". He responded, "Sure, because I love music. It's in my head, I can't get it out". Similarly, Chico makes music because he has to get it out. Beginning in punk rock bands as a teen, Chico would go on to study classical guitar, music theory, and vocals in college. He quickly realized, though, that he would never be the best guitarist or singer and that mastering other people’s approach to music just wasn’t for him. So, Chico took what he needed from school and created his own path.  

Drawing from influences ranging from punk rock, jazz, Latin, and folk, with passionate vocals and sincere yet humorous lyrics that balance the personal and political, Chico has a unique songwriting style inspired by icons like John Lennon, Elliott Smith, and Paul Westerberg.

Detangler is the project of Los Angeles singer/songwriter Davin Givhan (DAVE-in, give-ANN).
