Case and point, who would've thought that in 2024, Johnny Yono, the Detroit born, Los Angeles based Trance turned Techno producer, would be releasing a full-length Ambient/Electronica album under his newest project, Child Of The Clouds. It’s one of those anomalies that you didn’t realize you needed until it was here, but once you press play and the revelatory chords from the opening track, 'Before I Disappear' captivate your ears followed by a warming sub bass, you know you’re experiencing something special.

A Journey Into The Light is something very special indeed. It’s an impassioned playground for one of the industry’s production powerhouses, where unlike more mainstream genres, is allowed to delve deeper into a capacious gamut of emotions. Whether it’s the edifying revelation of lost love from 'Afraid To Let Go' or the swelling grandiosity of 'We Watched the Moon Fall Into The Ocean', there are no untouched pieces of the heart that Child Of The Clouds doesn’t grasp on to. Johnny’s sharp and subtle sound design efforts are as pronounced as ever, particularly in the Post-Rock adjacent tracks 'Solitary Boy' and 'A Summer We Once Knew', flawlessly integrating guitar and piano pieces that drive along the spacious and eerie soundscapes.

It’s a very human album, devoid of all pretention and trickery, aiming to simply tell a handful of stories and experiences. A naked view of one of the industry’s uncompromising talents in his most vulnerable state. Hammock would be very pleased, Brian Eno would be delighted, and you too should experience the Journey.
