'Further Studies Beyond Decay' - is a compilation of new Everyday Dust material and remixes from 'The Green Decay’.

Earlier in the year Everyday Dust started work on new and experimental works whilst various remixes from his ‘The Green Decay’ album were also taking place. As both projects developed they fortuitously drifted together and soon became clear that the new works and remixes belonged on the same release. ‘Further Studies Beyond Decay’ is a development of ‘The Green Decay’ that feels as organic as the process from which it was created.

The contributing remix artists - covering a spectrum of ambient and electronic music - each bring their own unique interpretations in order to present a multifaceted and compelling re-synthesis of 'The Green Decay' (Released on Sparkwood Oct 31, 2016)

The elegantly composed "Fahrradschuppen" is cinematic and intricately melodic piece made whole thanks to robust soundscapes and whirring, thrumming effect gadgetry. The second single from Matams "Reverberations from the Past" LP features remixes from Japan's Shigeru Tanabu (Apartment International) and France's Eskadet (Lemongrass Music), the latter of whom also appeared with Nadja Lind (Lucidflow, Klartraum) on the first "Mellow Bridge" single.

MATAMS-Fahrradschuppen-Eskadet Remix

I've always been a bit obsessed with this tune since I bought the box set of Sally's Photographic memory from Selectadisc for £1.99.  A few years later I'd be fortunate enough to meet and work with Kirsty, producing some tracks for her and having her guest on Maris Stella from the Centre Cannot Hold EP in 2004.  I started doing my own version of this, utterly stunning, track with much trepidation.  How do you do justice to a Mark Pritchard production at the height of his powers?  But I really wanted to perform it live with Kirsty at The Big Chill in 2006.  In the end, I lost my nerve to do it, but fortunately didn't lose the files.  Around 2009 I played a set with Josh in the ambient room of a club at Corsica - we hadn't prepared at all (as usual) but I found I still had the stems that I'd written for this live version on my harddrive, so I dropped them in over a HPF'd version of the original tune on the fly.

This is the result.  

It's impossible to improve Kirsty Hawkshaw's Orange (original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xvk344jiohU), but I hope I've managed to slightly make it my own.  Maybe one day I'll do it properly.

Star Trails is a collaboration between Swedish producer Ben Tatlow (Antarctic Wastelands) and Norwegian multi-instrumentalist Tommy Berre (Somniacs). Combining the soft piano tones that epitomise the music of Somniacs with the ambient soundscapes of Antarctic Wastelands, Star Trails is inspired by the beauty of the Nordic night sky.
