DJ Azúcar started as a club DJ in 1999 playing Latin music in Huntsville, AL, although my "unofficial" DJ days go back to my childhood in Moca, Puerto Rico, where I would create mix tapes using an actual cassette recorder with songs from the radio… LOL. 

DJ Azúcar has a natural affinity for Latin music and its diverse range of genres, and House music with lots of percussion and African and Caribbean influence. His sets also include music from the 70′s/80′s as well as House, Techno and their derivatives. DJ Azúcar is a proud member of the Astoria/NYC DJ Group (ADG) and has spun with ADG at various spots around New York City such as Astoria Brewhouse, Hachi Asian Bistro, Hell Gate Social, L.I.C. Bar, Katra Lounge, Moomia Lounge, Nana Restaurant and Bar, Porch Bar and Lounge, RSVP Lounge and Vikings Dungeon.

DJ Azúcar is currently living in the Chicago area where he has played at Drink (Schaumburg), Drop Lounge, Exit, Gallery Bar, Hostel Earphoria, House of Music and Entertainment (H.O.M.E., Arlington Heights), Innjoy (Wicker Park), Lost Never Found (LNF), Never Have I Ever, NV Lounge, Parlour on Clark, Spybar, Stereo Nightclub, The Red Lab (online show), The Roots Room, Slammin' Saturdays (online show), W 55th Bar, Brunch-Ski, House of Sol music festival, House on Paseo music festival, Tacos and Tamales music festival, Zero Degrees Karaoke Lounge, and as a guest DJ on WNUR 89.3 FM and DaBooth312 on WIIT 88.9 FM Chicago, KONR 106.1 FM in Anchorage, Alaska, and KTUH 90.1 FM in Honolulu, Hawai'i.
He has also played in Anchorage, Alaska (Sub-Zero Micro Lounge, Koot's Ice Bar, The Raven); Hawai'i (Soulgasm-Hawaii, Aether, Anura (Centered Afterhours), Asylum, Bar 35, Hawaiian Brians, Next Door Lounge, The Reef, My Bar Kona (Vibes/Bass Night); Portland, Oregon (The Big Legrowski, Mighty Moe's Tanker, Bar Afterlife); Kansas City (Woody's, In The Lowest Ferns);  Seattle (Monkey Loft); and in Puerto Rico with Caribbean Underground, Beats, Dance + Bytes,  and Grooves By The Sea beach festival.
