Neon Dreams is my debut album release and a very eclectic compilation of original VGM inspired music (and 2 covers!) I composed and/or arranged over the course of the past 2 years with some help from Rudy Escobar and Trevin Huges (Jredd) collaborating with me on a good portion of the tunes. 

Every song on this album was lovingly crafted for maximum listening enjoyment using various video game console trackers (VGM MM, Famitracker, Deflemask as well as Renoise and guitars recorded in Reaper.

I've had this thing finished for several months but never bothered to upload it, so I thought it'd be neat to have it up for christmas so yea, cool.

This is mostly just me using the Shovel Knight instruments to create an arrangement, I took most of my inspiration from The Betrayer obviously tho the intro uses some instruments from Flowers Of Antimony, but yeah a lot of it is just me dicking around till I thought I had something that sounded neat so it's not supposed to be like a perfect 1 to 1 with any specific Shovel Knight track lol.

Greetings everyone,

Been about four weeks since I've last uploaded for the challenge, but not for lack of trying. I've just been real unhappy with the two tunes I churned out, so I didn't bother uploading them.

This time around, the folks at MusicWeekliesChallenge (www.musicweeklieschallenge.com/) announced a broad challenge: Do Chiptune [up to 16 bits!] Heaven on the ears, as I was contemplating trying out a tracker to help switch things up, hopefully bringing out some inspiration.

My choice this time was multi-tracker Deflemask, capable of using/emulating soundchips from various consoles to make music. I went with the Genesis soundchip, which if you know me, was the OBVIOUS choice.

The original idea was to take a simple tune and make it progressively complex over time, ala 'In the Hall of the Mountain King'. I thought up a barnyard setting, and went to work creating realistic-ish sounds using synthesizers. I also wanted to take advantage of tracker effects, so I learned how to use wavetables and hex-commands to create cool sounding pulses. Definitely still need more practice, but I'm happy with what I made.

Sadly, think I'll stop doing the challenge for a while to focus on IRL obligations. It sucks, but on the bright side, it'll probably be good for inspiration once I return.

The Music Challenge for this week was to compose a chiptune track, of some kind. The rules allowed for 16-bit sound as well, so I went with a track using an emulated version of the synth used in the Sega Genesis. The result was this piece! Really good fun making something new, I hope you enjoy!
