Weirdo

I strained my wrist playing guitar while practicing a new piece I hope to post in a month or two. For us guitarists, holding a large stretch (in this case a 5 fret stretch on the third fret) for periods of time can cause problems! (Guitar players nodding their heads right now 😊). Anyhoo, I can’t play my guitar at the moment, so I decided to freshen up a short piece I had on SC from a few years ago. It’s very simple, a musical meditation, towards peace; the dove of peace carries this message, through many cultures and religions. Peace is needed now, more than ever. Hope you may spend 2 minutes with me to meditate. 
PS. Wasn't able to master this with clarity, so headphones/earphones best.

LOVE AT SECOND SIGHT  (Lyrics) Song for Liz

Hey…. So I put down the slide guitar the other day, and picked up the mandolin after a slide solo wasn’t working. Then did this little song. A rather surreal look at the metaphysics of stars as they relate to us. Occasionally, we are at a loss to make sense of this life. I find perspective in observing the night sky, among other things, even if for only a brief moment. Hanging out with others helps too. So does playing music. I usually laugh at myself in those moments and realize just how fascinating life can be. I mentioned this story before, but in a different context. I have been ‘caretaking’ a fire ant colony for over twenty years. The common sense of today’s world would seek to destroy the colony, as labeling them as ‘nuisance pests’ comes with a dire consequence for the ants. Fire ants bite only to get a grip and then sting (from the abdomen) and inject a toxic alkaloid venom called solenopsin. Anyway, the colony had been in my neighbor’s yard decades ago, and I did my best to encourage him not to destroy the colony. But after seeing a friend of his riding over the colony with a riding lawn mower, I knew the colony was doomed if it stayed there. Then one day, while emptying the kitchen compost bucket into the compost pile, I saw a long trail of fire ants coming from my neighbor’s yard into mine. They had begun to build a mound near a brush pile in the back. So the ants have been here for 5 years or so. Sure, they may strip an aspen sapling bare, or try and sneak into my vegetable garden, but for the most part, they have been good neighbors. They have come out of their mound now that it is a little warmer. I was cleaning up the gardens in the back, and noticed hundreds of them working on their mound. I looked yesterday and I saw this one ant carrying a large twig, way bigger than him, on top of the mound. As he walked, the twig was waving back and forth like a sword raised in the air. I laughed (to myself) and realized it had been a while since I had done so. This song is about all those little things in life, like that, that bring us back…. Hope you like it. Music for Danse Etoile Ballet (www.danseetoile.org) who will be performing Frida's Wings, a ballet based on the life and works of Frida Kahlo, June 2024 in Colorado.
Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter known for her many portraits, self portraits and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico.  Her paintings often had strong autobiographical elements and mixed realism with fantasy. She is also known for painting about her experience of chronic pain. In most of her self-portraits, she depicts her face as mask-like, but surrounded by visual cues which allow the viewer to decipher deeper meanings. Aztec mythology features heavily in Kahlo's paintings in symbols including skeletons and skulls.  In the painting, Dream of The Bed, painted in the year of 1940, Frida expressed her feeling and interception of death, which depicts a skeleton on the canopy of her bed (as she had in her real life). Her husband, Diego Rivera called the Juda, Frida's lover, but Frida said it's just an amusing reminder of people's mortality. Frida Kahlo spent much of her life in pain.  As As a teenager she suffered a horrific bus accident which left her unable to have children and meant she needed more than 30 operations on her spine. Eventually her withered leg had to be amputated and she died at 47. She said in her diary: “Feet, why do I need you, if I have wings to fly”

A mi padre (For my dad) HD Version 

Created in January 2021 and published in February 2021.

Life sometimes gives us a second chance. My father had it 45 years ago when he survived a serious accident when he was going to work. Contrary to medical opinions, he was able to walk again, have two more children, travel, and watch his family grow during all that time.

He survived cancer ten years ago and no longer able to move as before, he took refuge in learning everything he could think of: he learned computer science, journalism classes and English language.

From him I learned many things ... effort, honesty, passion to learn ... love for music.

Before all that and getting married, between the fifties and sixties he was working in the south of Germany, where he soon learned the language with a Bavarian accent, which caused him some problems in the north of the country, where he was after a few years as well.

When he came from there he brought a typewriter (He loved writing for some years), a radio, a record player and a tape recorder, where he listened to his favorite music. And that was what he listened to when I was a kid.

My father passed away a few days ago, and it's been hard times for me. 

This little tribute is for him.

When Broken Hearts Go For A Walk

I was watching a documentary about the 70s and 80s music and wow…..the music was great. The mood so uplifting and funky…..perfect to dance to. I have to say that so many awesome musicians and bands made it in the 80s, obviously not all disco music. So many fantastic Indie bands as well. 
We dream through music.
Today is Sunday with sunshine and this music I felt was perfect to lift the mood. So enjoy and be happy if only for around 7 minutes. Love to all. Copyright protected ©

I started with music in the 60s. I was part of several bands.
While my blood boiled to the rhythm of the best Rock & Roll, a tsunami called The Beatles came from Liverpool. That tide lasted twenty years during which the best musicians of the 20th century appeared.
I was there !!!
In the mid-seventies I completely abandoned music. I didn't play a single note for the next fifty years. And now, a little older, I play music in my studio again with more enthusiasm than ever. I think I never should have left it... It gives me life.....
Thank you all, friends, for taking part of your precious time to listen to my humble noises...
