To coincide with the release of his sophomore album ‘Outside the Circle’, Sydney’s Low Flung aka Danny Wild joined me on Passing Notes episode 74 as my first-ever repeat guest.

Visual artist, Moontown Records boss, producer and DJ - I am yet to decide if it's Low Flung's incredibly unique productions or collection of digi dub 7"s that I envy most. With releases on Australian stalwart labels Butter Sessions and Ken Oath Records, Low Flung's newest addition on Paper-Cuts reveals a somewhat more serious side than that of Danny’s more playful debut album ‘Blow Waves’. Reflective of the world around, ‘Outside the Circle’ explores impressive variation that spans dance floor ready minimalism, eerie atmospheric ambience and the inimitable Low Flung downtempo dub sound. 

Released alongside a stunning series of visual clips, we are presented with an impressive creative package that we are beginning to know Paper-Cuts and its alluring aesthetic so well for. 

Here, Danny presents for us an exciting mix of original Low Flung compositions and collaborations: some unreleased, some forthcoming but all worthy of our attention.

This one is really special. The music is stunning, emotional and the perfect healing music for this long drawn out lockdown period we're facing in Melbourne right now

For the newest Animix instalment, i’m so happy to share this emotional journey by @nenaghnenagh. Beautifully put together, the mix is a sublime exploration of moody 90s era idm & dreamy electro tunes. 

Before Covid hit, she was running vortex, one of my favourite Melbourne parties, alongside @megmldrm

The euphoric, ravey vibe of this mix really hit home and made me miss dancing with friends. Hopefully we’ll all be dancing together soon

This week’s Rhythmic Culture podcast is all about deep grooves and pumping rhythms, as Melbourne’s Toni Yotzi is in charge of what’s happening for 66 minutes. Toni has played a crucial role in developing Perth into a thriving club metropolis, programming Deep Doogs’ sunrise rave, co-hosting Full Frequency on RTR FM and presenting parties for Kenji Takimi, Bell Towers and DJ Nozaki. Now based in Melbourne, she’s established herself as one of the most open minded DJs on the local circuit, immortalised by a legendary Inner Varnika and Golden Plains set's that saw her fearlessly transition from Jon Hassell to italo disco, memphis rap and Bristol bass and UK techno.

In her mix she’s features mostly Australian artists and labels. Feast your ears with cuts from Pugilist, LOIF, Coldpast, Hed Ardennes and many more.
