When the words came to me for " We are Phuture" I had no idea how relevant and true they would become. My friend " Spank Spank" of over 30 years is no longer with us in body but he is here in spirit.  He is here in the music. A few years after Acid house reached its peaked people gave up on it. They  said Acid was dead. Spanky and I refused to believe that. So I wrote the words to this song. It was in direct defiance to people wanting to put us and the movement to rest. Next year  in 2017 we celebrate 30 years of Acid House and it's bigger than  ever. The words of survival in this song could not be any more true.  This is in dedication to you my friend.  Sleep well. We will forever be Phuture and Phuture will always survive in our music. Love and Respect always.

At the end of August, Get Physical will release the album, ‘Berlin Gets Physical Vol. 1’ compiled by Reno Wurzbacher and featuring an array of underground artists from the pivotal city.

In recent years the legendary Get Physical label has cast its eye around the globe, offering a window into the local music scenes of South Africa, Indian, Brazil and more. Now the imprint sets its sights on home turf with a compilation that explores the sounds of a city that has had an immeasurable influence on dance music.

Album compiler Reno Wurzbacher is a key part of the Berlin scene and has been for years. His own originals have come on labels like Colombage and Step and explore emotive deep house sounds. Two of them feature on a standalone single at the start of August, while one of them ‘I’ve Learned From You’ - a cultured cut with sombre moods - features here.

The rest of the sublime selections are similarly on point and draw on a rich array of talent from the house mecca that is Berlin. The likes of Christoph Linke’s ‘Shifted’ and KLP feat. Théo’s ‘Nightwalk In Görli’ make for a classy opening sequence that features propulsive deep house and melancholic pianos with plenty of dub undercurrents.

Mainstays of the deeper end of the Berlin spectrum like Office boss Baaz, Delsin associate Sawlin and key techno figure Sascha Rydell explore hypnotic late night sounds that are economical yet evocative. Get Physical family member Thabo Getsome brings plenty of introspective but rolling house warmth, and Pawas shows off his sensitive piano playing skills with the majestic chords and keys of his seductive ‘Jiya’ amongst an array of other golden tracks.

This is a golden collection of contemporary deep house that also plays out as a superbly paced and balanced mix in its own right.

GROOVY TECH HOUSE FULL DEMO

I am not afraid is a real original piece of art. It is the result of a jam session on the main stage in Berlin`s Arena club, 2 years ago. In the musicians world you find several characters one way is the timid one, who is afraid of being on stage, but another way is the artist who is inspired by the energy of 5000 screaming people in front of them. Obviously the two ladies who played the sommersafari party are the latter, they performed a live pa, not one of those where some nerd presses a play button, but the real musicians, jamming on that main stage. The energy came back from the audience and bang, the song was born. If there had not been the recording of that liveset, it would have probably been lost forever, but it needed another 1000 versions in the studio and lots of patience to finetune this song and finish it. It still has all the elements of the original, it is rough, dirty , emotional, acid, minimal and it has housevocals. Sounds like antipodes but its possible to merge it all to a great song taking the message to not be afraid seriously and follow the emotions. Sven Wegner takes it on a much softer level with a groovy version to dance to. Be sure , you do not need to be afriad with so much love in your emotional luggage.

"I am not afraid" ist ein echtes Original, denn der Song entstand vor 2 Jahren auf der grossen Bühne in der Arena, Berlin. Es gibt Musiker, die haben Angst vor mehr als 5000 Leuten und es gibt welche, die das erst dazu anfeuert zu Höchstform aufzulaufen. So geschehen auf besagter Sommersafari-Party. DJ Aroma spielte mit ihrem Liveact als Discopunk zusammen mit der Sängerin Elahi. Anders als Livacts, die nur auf eine Starttaste drücken, sind die beiden Ladies echte Musikerinnen und jammten auf der Bühne. Die Energie kam vom Publikum zurück und so explodierte der Vulkan. Hätte man nicht in weiser Voraussicht mitgeschnitten, wäre wohl nie ein Song daraus geworden. Wie das aber mit Dingen, die einem was wert sind, ist, dauerte es nun gut 2 Jahre und gefühlte 10.000 Versionen von diesem Song, bis er nun so da ist wie er damals entstand. Dreckig, rough, emotional, Acid mit Minimal und Housevocals, eigentlich alles Dinge, die nicht zusammen passen. Einmal mehr zeigt sich, dass man wie in der Liebe keine Angst haben darf, sondern einfach seinen Emotionen folgen sollte. Sven Wegner`s Remix gibt dem Song nochmal ein viel weicheres Gefühl mit, groovy, tanzbar und entspannt. Bleibt am Ende nur zu sagen, man sollte wirklich keine Angst haben, dass einen keiner liebt mit dieser Musik im Gepäck.
