Cold Busted returns to familiar label artist Poldoore (born Tom Schillebeeckx) to release his new album, The Day Off. It features some talented guests, including the mysterious Maverick, emcee duo The 49ers, American blues singer Bodhilynn, and trumpeter Will Magid. Based out of Belgium, Poldoore started producing at an early age and eventually his potential was realized by Cold Busted&rsquo;s offer to release his debut L.A.X. EP . From there the pairing has only grown stronger. Poldoore&rsquo;s sound is about good vibes, creating warm atmospheres that blend funk, soul, lounge, and reggae with punchy drum breaks. Among the album&rsquo;s many highlights is &ldquo;Morning Glory,&rdquo; featuring a rocksteady beat with bright arpeggiated synths at select moments, with the bulk of the track carried by wailing guitars and chopped up blues vocals. &ldquo;Ahhh Yeah&rdquo; enters like a walk in the park with bright keys, lovely strings, and funky rhythms, the results of rearranging an original sample into suitable bits and pieces with a little help from Maverick. &ldquo;Heard It All Before&rdquo; has Bodhilynn&rsquo;s soulful vocal hook accompanied by The 49ers&rsquo; rhymes and a key-based beat with soaring highs. &ldquo;Natural High&rdquo; elicits psychedelic vibes with plenty of effects, a sporadic, low electric shock, and interwoven, layered guitar play. &ldquo;Unconditional&rdquo; uses a Motown-like backing track beefed up by a strong kick and slow, sizzling hats, cymbals, and snares. Midway through &ldquo;Unconditional&rdquo; Poldoore is joined by Will Magid&rsquo;s saucy, bayou-evoking horn solo. &ldquo;Call It A Day&rdquo; is a dreamy funk affair full of shimmery, echoing melodies, teetering guitars, forward-staggering key stabs, and a stand out bass line. The Day Off is full of sonic sunshine, exactly the kind of sonic weather fit for enjoying what little time there is for leisure and much appreciated in today&rsquo;s musical climate. Returning to the fold with a wonderful array of carefully prepared sounds, Harmonious Discord founder JD Northrup presents the Night EP under his jdn project name. Previously releasing on the label under his moniker Chakaharta, he developed a reputation for blending modern electronics with natural rhythms and synthetic elements. Releases like "Cactus Girl" and his album The Plant were standout additions to the Harmonious Discord catalog. Northrup&rsquo;s jdn project encompasses the same balance of synthetic and natural elements but with an enhanced concentration on hardware based workflow. The entire EP was constructed in the box using various synthesizers and drum machines to program eccentric dance grooves, spanning many moods with a common thread of psychedelic flair and technical precision. It grows from a very subdued intro into freakish floor fillers like &ldquo;Talk is Cheap.&rdquo; Each number captures the same sci-fi sense of unchartered territory and discovery that was so prevalent in early house and techno, albeit with a deep, modern tint. Harmonious Discord contributor and artist Patchen Preston joins in on the experiment, offering up a chunky rendition of the tune &ldquo;C5&rdquo;. Also taking part is the versatile Evan Marc aka Bluetech, one of Northrup&rsquo;s favorite producers. His remix of &ldquo;Night Groove&rdquo; is stratospheric in nature with floating arpeggiations and bouncing percussion. The Night EP explores sounds and arrangements from the subdued to the straightforward, cracking the code between boundaries and demanding the attention of anyone seeking to unleash more esoteric sounds upon the world.

 Bogota Records is pleased to introduce their inaugural release Themes, the deep house work of Ivaylo. A Bulgarian native based in Oslo, Ivaylo has produced two original tracks: &ldquo;Innerself&rdquo; featuring Norwegian singer Renate and &ldquo;Pelican.&rdquo; Remixes come by way of&nbsp;Johnny Fiasco, a renowned artist from Chicago with a range of production credits to his name, and Cymasonic Recordings label owner Arildo Dildo collaborating with Barcelona native Usmev. While &ldquo;Innerself&rdquo; is only their second time working together, Ivaylo and Renate are old friends. Delicate and slow, the song came about when Ivaylo, knowing Renate&rsquo;s love for depth, played it for her and she began writing lyrics over coffee. An online back and forth ensued resulting in the final product: a deeply moody, but impactful groove with plenty of melody. Johnny Fiasco&rsquo;s remix ups the tempo while rinsing the original synths and vocals in his own treatment, complete with hats that quite literally click. The second original, &ldquo;Pelican,&rdquo; is a chuggy house track with nu-disco flavor. The synths are slick and sleazy and the vocal chops are full of attitude. For their remix, Arildo and Usmev take the tempo down and open a revolving door of delay and filter effects. The Bogota label and Ivaylo have put their best foot forward for this debut release.
