As a stranger, You appeared O Lord, to the disciples on the pathway to Emmaus.

There He found them sad, so He spoke to them, “Why are you distraught and speak these things of which I hear?” 

“Because our Lord is dead and His blood was shed; He was meant to be the One to save and redeem us.”

So He answered them and taught them and said, “Christ had to suffer and enter into His glory.”

After they discussed they said “abide with us”; He became their guest and broke the bread after He blessed.

Then their eyes were opened and they came to know Him. He vanished from their sight when they communed of His Body.

O Mystery revealed, our doubting hearts You healed. Open our eyes to Your glory and dwell in us.

Risen is the Lord, Immortal God and Word; Raise us from the darkness of our sin into Your Light.
