Winter arrives, silent and cold,  
With icy winds and a cloak of white gold.  
Even the last flowers surrender and fall,  
Like forgotten dreams, they answer the call.  
Fragrances fade,  
Leaving only the chill that seeps deep inside,  
A breath of frost that fills up my chest,  
While the world stands still, in a moment of rest.

And you, oh winter,  
Are the cold that won’t go away,  
You’re the frost that wraps me tight,  
The nostalgia that lingers night and day.  
And you, oh winter,  
Are the silence that makes me shake,  
You’re the weight of a love,  
That I can’t seem to forsake.


You are my winter, no longer mine,  
Like dead leaves of autumn, you’ve flown from my line,  
To a horizon that won’t be part of me.  
And here I wait for spring to see,  
Hoping the sun will melt this freeze,  
And bring back warmth, a gentle breeze.

I had been working on this piece when our beloved cat, Tobi, suddenly passed away. A few days before, he had started to fade, but we didn't realize it would happen so quickly in the end.

I was playing my guitar, searching for harmonic notes while he sat in front of me. It made me sad to see that he was in his twilight days. In response, I played my arpeggio in reverse, so it sounded like falling rain.

By the time I finished working on the guitar piece, Tobi had sadly already passed away. I wanted to find a Buddhist chant for animals to help him cross to the other shore. I discovered that "Om Mani Padme Hum," meaning "Jewel in the Lotus," could be used to assist both animals and humans in planting the seeds of practice for their next lifetime. This beautiful chant also helps with the process of grief after losing loved ones, guiding them as they cross to the other shore. "Om Mani Padme Hum" is widely recognized as a Tibetan Buddhist mantra, often associated with Avalokiteśvara, the Bodhisattva of compassion. 

The ending felt like a way to send him off and into the light.

Each of the six syllables carries a unique quality and meaning.

Interesting note: 
- The musical piece combines elements of rock, folk, world and country music with electronic beats. It has an emotional impact that is both upbeat and nostalgic. The overall vibe is energetic yet laid-back with a pop feel to it.
