Recordings of electromagnetic fields generated by electronic devices gently collide with emotive piano melodies to create a truly atmospheric piece of ambient beauty. Inspired by the ever-presence of these unseen electronic worlds, Heliograph will form part of the duo's forthcoming EP Beacons.

Sound In Silence is proud to announce the return of Hessien, presenting their new album The Alchemist.

This is their second release on the label after the highly acclaimed, and already sold out, Calcifer EP back in 2013.

Hessien is the ambient duo of Tim Martin (Maps and Diagrams, Atlantis, Karst, Bluhm, Black Elk, Ouvala) and Charles Sage (y0t0, The Rothko Chapel).
A twenty-year UK electronic and experimental veteran with over thirty album releases, Tim Martin has released on multiple labels and appeared on John Peel's iconic radio show. In addition to curating the Citygenetic project, his photography has been shown globally in the CityLab art collective, he dabbles in audio visual comms and he also runs the Handstitched* record label.
After a solid ten years on Australia’s indie pub circuit, Charles Sage issued four releases as y0t0 and co-founded guitar noise collective The Rothko Chapel (Pete Dowd, Noveller, Steve Kilbey, Tape Loop Orchestra, elintseeker, Tree Of Man). He also curated Internecine: The Vanished Musicians, a multimedia tribute to refugee musicians interned during the Second World War.

Hessien were prolific in the first half of the last decade, releasing works on Fluid Audio, Sound In Silence, Beko DSL, Long Story, and Audio Gourmet.
After an extended hiatus, Hessien return with The Alchemist, a companion piece to 2010’s Home Is Where the Ghost Is, a one-hour asymmetrical trip through guitar textured dream-state sound design. Carefully mastered by George Mastrokostas (Absent Without Leave), The Alchemist is an evolution in their instantly recognisable tone, reflecting the influence of side projects, collaborations, and life experiences of the last ten years.

This is a limited edition of 200 handmade and hand-numbered collectible copies. It is packaged in a lovely hand-stamped 127mm x 127mm 250 gsm dark brown recycled cardboard envelope with the front cover image printed on a polaroid style photo paper and an insert sheet containing tracklist and information printed on a 120 gsm smoky grey recycled cardboard. It also comes bundled with a download code coupon and a Sound In Silence card.

You are listening to a demo of some of the Multis from Luftrum Ambient 3, a soundset of 150 presets crafted by Luftrum for Omnisphere 2. The multis in the demo are played straight out of the box, with no additional effects or any processing of any kind.

Luftrum Ambient 3 is a return to the Luftrum roots, to the very beginning of what started it all. This release is the third in the series, following the first Luftrum Ambient designed for Camel Audio’s Alchemy, and the subsequent Luftrum Ambient 2, tailored for Omnisphere 2.

Wien pt 2

I make music because it is where I let go of the have-to’s, and become part of something larger than myself. The language I speak on the keyboard when I improvise expresses a part of me that only comes out there at the moment of creation - when I’m fully connected and in the flow. In those moments when I disappear in the music, those are where I’m most fully alive. The musical question I pose to myself when I play is largely this: how can I release my inhibitions and let go of patterns sufficient to bring something entirely new, unexpected, and enlightening into the world, with structure, precision, clarity, and depth of expression. These pieces are meditations that are of me, but more precisely, they come through me. When I’m in the flow, I’m channeling the energy and only moderately directing it. The challenge is to be open to take risks while maintaining a structure, melody, and tempo that makes it interesting and satisfying enough to keep listening. I keep doing this nightly because it’s a language, because it’s a connection to something greater than myself, and because it’s very very relaxing.
