Started up a neat hip-hop instrumental. Might do some vocals on this one. Samples are from “Thought @ Work” and “Quills” from The Roots’ album Phrenology.

Swagger (v.5)

A jazzy hip-hop vibe constructed out of "Deep and Wide" from Aceyalone's All Balls Don't Bounce.

Sportsball

A straight hip-hop vibe, constructed from "Arhythmaticulas" and "Headaches and Woes" and "Headaches and Woes Intro" from Aceyalone's All Balls Don't Bounce Revisited. I chopped up all these samples and put them on my new 16 pad machine. Yea I only used 16 at once I’m a noob. But the main track was recorded at a shot after setting all the pads up so that’s neat. This has that live quality because it’s kind of a recorded performance.

Nexus

An extremely laid-back tribute to my favorite internet comedy of yesteryear. Samples are from various emails and music videos. This was entirely too much fun to make. 

Smarty Juice

Vibe-wise it's based around "Swivel" from Collaborative Endeavors by Mr. Bill. Samples are from "Nowhere Fast" from Blackalicious' Blazing Arrow. Then I do some sample freestyling at the end. It's not half bad!

Homonculus (v.3)

This one has a more explicitly chiptune sound, but still plenty of samples. I imagine this as being a really cool town theme or perhaps overworld theme. Samples are from "Blazing Arrow" from Blackalicious' album of the same name. So I started using Return tracks to give everything a light delay and it adds a warmth and depth to everything. Might back it off a little bit more tho. Less is more for finishing touches.

Hibernia (v.4)

This one took a long time to come together. Samples are taken from Chemical Calisthenics by Blackalicious. I greatly improved my sampling game by, uh, filtering the samples. It's why Simpler has a built in filter for every sample. Because that's incredibly rudimentary. Man I'm good at this. 🤣

Galaxy Brain

I decided to greatly rework and expand the Homestar sampling based on all the fun I had with Smarty Juice. I've become much better since then. I've left the old version up if you wish to see a stark comparison.

Splounch VIP (v.9)

Using the trance "Performance" on Sorako to jump start a dance track of some sort. Samples are from the legendary Shoko Nakagawa, from Sorairo Days.

Sorairo Tears (v.2)

Esoteric electronic music producer with an aim to alchemize EDM, hip hop, and chiptune into glitch hop and beyond. I’m a strange multi-historian of music culture, and I collage as well as catalogue. At least, that’s what I do now. But this was not always so.

A strange vision appeared to me once. It seemed to be shaped like a man, but all black. Roundish. Tallish. With two piercing blue eyes gazing at me with seeming expectation. He said his name was Bill. He said he was glad I liked his music. He said if I wanted more I should write it.

Mr. Bill’s insanely gorgeous and catchy music made me realize that any limits I had conceived of simply did not exist. He has blown the secret vault door wide open and just left it off the hinges. It was evidence of alchemy of the most advanced kind I have ever seen. It was inevitable, friends, that I would follow after. That music. It just sounds like home. 😇
