Poker Flat's Forward To The Past anthology returns in its 3rd iteration, as lean and mean as it ever was and precision- engineered to make you jack, dream and all things in between. The winning formula remains the same: task a selection of hots- hot veteran and up-and-coming producers with recapturing the style and mood of early club music, paying homage to the golden years between 1985 and 1992 when Chicago House and Acid, New York House and Detroit Techno took the world and its dancefloors by storm. The result is a coll- ection of new and exclusive tracks as ad- dictive as the stone cold classics that in- fluenced them - a tribute and, at the same time, the cutting edge of contemporary music production.
LA-based compatriot MANIK contributes a rolling, no-frills jam that sticks to the tried and tested production values of early acid as if to say, "Why mess with perfection?"

From his small Amsterdam studio crammed with classic drum machines and synths, Wouter de Moor serves up 'Bon Voyage', a simmering analogue acid jam bedecked with snickering percussive flourishes and long, sustained chords for that blue-tinged Detroit vibe.
Pavel Iudin, meanwhile, adds jazzy Rhodes inflections and whistling birdsong to a similarly bubbling groove.
Veteran DJ Aakmael adopts the classic Juno bass sound to pay homage to the godfather of deep, Larry Heard, for an ex- ercise in immersive repetition.

Following the launch of their inaugural 26-track compilation, pioneering YouTube channel, clubbing brand and record label collective Eton Messy are to welcome Belgian upstart LIMITS to the label for his debut single, ‘Fading Away’.

Scheduled for release on October 2nd after being premiered via BBC Radio 1 back in July, ‘Fading Away’ retains it’s own sense of experimentalism, whilst still tapping into Eton Messy's darker, bass-driven brand identity. Leading with a favourable male vocal that’s amplified with a synth-heavy framework, the record reinforces Eton Messy’s willingness to provide a platform for emerging artists and sees LIMITS sit alongside fellow label members Just Kiddin, Kayper and The Golden Boy.

"Weltschmerz: The kind of feeling experienced by someone who understands that physical reality can never satisfy the demands of the mind."

Lead track ‘Weltschmerz’ sounds like an instant Berghain classic; dark, massive, trippy, and with an emotional character all too rare within the genre. The kicks are banging, the verbed out percussion is fierce, and it all moves around a haunting melodic breakdown that artfully dances on the right side of ‘progressive.’ It’s a killer track that perfectly sets the tone for the whole record.

‘Damage Control’ is a straightforward flex-a-thon, a housier rhythm that struts along confidently. The technical term is ‘floor-filler.’ ‘Lonesome’ brings the emotion back, with it’s super-tense, unresolved melodies, this is perfect for all your mega-club yearning & gurning needs. ‘Relatives of None’ is the nastiest of the bunch, and probably the most at home on Turbo, built around a screechy synth hook. Finally, ’Weltschmerz (Melodic Theme)’ provides an epic ambient outro, crystallizing the emotional tones of the EP and establishing a sense of artistic vision that ascends well beyond the pedestrian.
