I’ve written a humble amount of songs about you, 
your gracious presence and magnificence in all that you do,
How when I feel weak and disabled the thought of you empowers me,
and when darkness attempts to enslave me your reminders set me free,
Life would be pointless if not for all your enrichments, it’ll take infinity to review you and all your creative elements, 
from the changes in seasons to all the varieties of fruits and foods, 
the abundance of colours, temperaments and moods.
A true supreme Genius of creativity, the thought process behind your creations is a mystery, 
I would forever be amazed with your hand, of how your works remain marvellous and Grand.

My waking dream, my reverie in blue.

Like a massive dose of benzadrine.
Just shaking, I can never dream with you.

After some broken sleep I'm laid awake.
I'm choked, on thoughts of all the days that's done.

Oh, I'm ridden by the witches of the night.
And the devil on my left side.
Says the morning I can't hide.
Oh, lord, I am so tired.
No place to run.

It's the early hours I lay alone.
My empty face lit by my mobile phone.

I can not rest, can't concentrate.
The wastelands in my mind, let a weary moan.

Like a dead beat ghostman of the night.
I wander around, unfeeling and alone.

Oh, I'm haunted by the ghosts in the night.
And the angel on my right side.
Creates a moribund eventide.
Oh, lord, I am so tired.
And I'm so cold. 

These wasted hours I can only share.
With the pillow flowing with your golden hair.

These wasted nights that do not care.
My whole world's floating with you in the dark.

The drugs don't work im still awake,
Not ready for another day. I'm through.

Oh, lay me down before I shake.
A nervous twitch, a reverie of you. 

Like a boxed up jack, I must escape.
From this silence, though, I crave it just like you.

Oh, I'm ridden by the witches till the dawn.
And my soul is frayed and torn.
My eyes are red and wired.
Oh, lord, I'm just so tired,

The ghost of the night is asleep in the clover.

We can hold court with the king of the night.

PROGRAM NOTES
Vermont is famous for its green mountains, but I often find myself taking long drives through the mountains on overcast days or even at night, when the mountains lose color and become gray silhouettes. Many roads in Vermont are so dark, particularly in the Northeast Kingdom, that you need to use headlights, even during the day. Dark Mountains is meant to portray the beauty and grandeur of the mountains and the peacefulness of the open roads, but also the darkness and occasional treacherous passes one may encounter during the evening hours. The piece is in three connected sections. The first section portrays the calmness and austerity of a quiet evening. The second is inspired by a fast drive down winding country roads, with twists and turns, frequent tempo changes and shifting gears. The final section evokes the feeling of looking at the nighttime sky with moonlight shining through the trees and the sounds of nature in the distance.

This piece is commissioned by and dedicated to the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and Jaime Laredo, and was originally written for the Made in Vermont Music Festival.

Dark Mountains (for Orchestra)

Chris Drabble, based in the Northwest of England, is a rock guitarist who has over 50 years of playing experience.
With nearly 50K streams on SoundCloud in the last 12 months being a mixture of Guitar Rock and softer Ambient instrumental tracks, Chris is now ramping up his rock guitar work with his latest album ‘Foot to the Floor’, which harks back to his youth when rock guitar tracks had a catchy opening riff, and was the sort exciting music you felt you had to tap your foot to. 
His influences include Rush, Led Zeppelin, The Police, Simple Minds, Pink Floyd, Joe Satriani and Jimi Hendrix. He is currently listening to Porcupine Tree, Dream Theatre.
