John Murdy is known to most people as the Creative Director/Producer of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood but John has also had a long career in the Los Angeles music scene as singer/songwriter for the rock and roll quartet Blueroom (with brothers Dave Murdy (guitars) and Dan Murdy (drums)and friends Rick Deeb (bass guitar from 1992-2008) and Steve D'Amico (bass guitar from 2008 to the present). John was also the lead singer and contributing songwriter for the rock and roll "collective" known as The Huge which also featured Charles "Captain Shakey" Van Steenburgh on guitar/vocals, Steve "Sev" Lausen on piano/vocals, Eric "Ekka" Gothold on guitar/vocals, Andrew "Drewbie" Yeater on bass/vocals and Brian "Paco" Parkos on drums. - Started singing at the age of 7 with the Byzantin Choir in Alexandria. Currently a soloist and a member.
- Started singing studies at the age of 16 with Mrs. Titti (Alexandria), then for 2 years with Dr. Violette Makkar (1999–2001) at the Educational Center of the Cairo Opera House, then with Dr. Neveen Allouba at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Arts School (2001–2008).
– Received the singing certificate from l’Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris under Mme. Elisabeth Rogier (2011).
– Received the Performance Diploma (Grade 8) from The Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music, London (2008).
– Soloist at Collège Saint Marc’s Choir since 1998, member in the choir since 1993, and children’s choir master since 2011, performing classical sacred works.
– Performed as soloist at the Cairo Opera House's Educational Center concerts (1999–2001).
– Participated in Sherif Mohie Eldin's "Miramar" presented at Alexandria Opera House and El Gomhoreya Theater (Cairo).
– Participated in numerous Classics and Musicals concerts and recitals at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Cairo Opera House, since 2003, accompanied by the BA Chamber Orchestra in addition to the Alexandria Opera House.
– Member and soloist of the Cairo Celebration Choir established and conducted by Nayer Nagui.
– Soloist and vocal coach of "El Refak" choir, performing at the Jesuits' Cultural Center (1998-2012)
– Founder and main vocalist of "Les Compagnons" Musical Group in August 2005, giving numerous concerts of oldies, musicals and light classics at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Jesuits Cultural Center, Alexandria Center of Arts, the Centre Français de Culture et de Coopération and other cultural centers in both Alexandria and Cairo in addition to various festivals and celebrations including the Bibliotheca Alexandrina International Summer Festival, the Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue Night, the Start with Yourself Festival and AlexFest.
– Performed with the international Tango Duo Buenos Aires.
– Participated in master classes by the international Soprano Horiana Branisteanu (2008) and the Egyptian–French Tenor Georges Wanis (2006 to 2009 & 2012).
– Casting Director of “Sawtalhayat” program (2012).
– Vocal Coach at the Conservatoire de Musique D’Alexandrie (2007-2013).
– Founder and choir master of the Conservatoire de Musique d’Alexandrie’s Choir (2012).
– Started Mireille Banoub’s Vocal Studio in July 2013.
– Music educator at Institution Sainte Jeanne-Antide since Sep. 2012 and coordinator and choir master of the “Contrebasse Voyageuse” project in cooperation with the Montpelier Symphony Orchestra and the Cairo Opera Orchestra.
