This is a mix dedicated to a beautiful friend who recently moved away from Nelson to the coast. The dance floor is where we met and our friendship grew into brotherhood. So grateful for all the groovin' we've squeezed into the time we've known each other. C-love LOVES the bangers, so this one is a lil' rowdy. Missin' U on the D Floor // May 2023

Never Stop Dancing is a labour of love dedicated to all those who can't stop two-steppin' to four to the floor beats, to those who constantly find themselves sayin' "one more song," to those who find their home on the dance floor. This mix series focused on amplifying the sounds of artists and DJs in the Kootenays and British Columbia who play house, disco, and techno. The offering will likely expand in time as this project grows. If you'd like to share a mix, get in touch! Never Stop Dancing 6 features yours truly, mochilero. 

Bio: Inspired by the creativity, interconnectedness, and diversity of the natural world, mochilero strives to evoke a feeling of oneness on the dance floor by weaving together melodic, uplifting and soulful grooves. mochilero hosts events on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral territories of the Sinixt peoples, also known as Nelson, B.C. Through The Greater Groove, he aims to build community, solidarity, and nurture a space in which we can pursue joy in our full authenticity. 

This mix is titled "Midnight Bangers for 10 Years of Love." It was 12:30AM and I was up. We were out on the lake at my friends' stunning property, dancing under the stars, celebrating 10 years of love. Needless to say, love was in the air. The community they've fostered over the years was present, we were all connected in a multitude of ways. A good friend came up to be and said, "it is midnight, don't feel like you need to warm up the crowd, I want your fast stuff." It took me a few tracks to get into it, but I ended up taking up the challenge(which felt more like a demand at the time) and laid down a set that was out of my comfort zone. I'm not sure if it was even the vibe of the evening, as there were only about 5-10 people on the d-floor for it, but when I re-listened to the set I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the BPM and track selection. Some of the mixing was a bit abrupt for me, but that is what happens when I am scrambling to find tracks above 125 from my limited library. I learned a couple lessons on this evening. One, play what is in my heart and the people will come. Two, lots of tech-house can be fun, too :) So, here is another side of my musical taste you may not often hear. Hope you enjoy it!

This is a challenging time for everyone but I want to try to focus on the positives. Regardless of race, gender or age we are all being impacted by this Pandemic. Perhaps it can be a time where we break down some barriers and work together on a higher level to overcome this hardship. 

I think it is our job as musicians to keep making music and attempt to provide hope and positivity. One song can completely change a person’s outlook on life and we need that more than ever now. 

I will be doing lots of streaming over the next few weeks, both of studio sessions and of djing but today I will be giving away two of the remixes I did over this past year as free downloads.
