Deep house vibes mixed at home during the 2 week power outage we had after a huge snowstorm this past Christmas. Mixed on the fly on my Pioneer XDJ rig. As usual, I just kinda went for it and hoped for the best.  After a tough year, unexpectedly loosing a few amazing friends and pets, i hope this mix soothes your soul and helps the grieving process.  Dedicated to friends and family who have crossed the rainbow bridge. We miss you!

There is a lovely quote about art and how it is the way we choose to decorate space, with that considered then naturally music is how we can decorate time...This conjures up thoughts and visions of being some kind of metaphysical interior designer of sorts?!

It pops into my mind often as I think about curation for any given event or opportunity to share the music that I love, I think of the physical space, those who will likely seek it out and the kind of experience they might like to have depending on time or circumstance...

When given the honour to warm up the stage for Opiuo, Jordan Dennis and Mood Swing & Chevy Bass at The Princess Theatre last month I felt a lot of feelings! First there was excitement, pride and shock which was closely followed by fear, harsh self judgement and doubt all tainted by a solid dose of impostor syndrome.

But when I stepped outside of my mind for a minute I genuinely knew that I could do it, I had all I needed to set the tone and style the evening decorating both time and space thanks to the beautiful music that had already found it's way to me.

Now on the other side of the experience I am pretty damn proud and so so grateful for all the friends who made the extra effort support me in their own special way whether it was during the lead up, in the flesh on the night or the days and weeks that followed as I reflected on it all

I have since enjoyed so many rich conversations about the art of performance from those in the know farther along the path than I am now. It has provided me with comfort, perspective and hope for the future as I anticipate a greater sense of ease to eventually be possible for me on stage.

As always my deepest most heartfelt thanks to the original creators of the tracks selected for this offering, each and every one of them has been recognised by my soul as the medicine it needed at any given time...an inner intelligence at work that is far beyond the scope of my imagination but much appreciated all the same.

DRAGONFLY - TUMBLEWEED HOUSE & PRAIRIE BLUES

Thank you to the organizers of the Nelson International Mural Festival for inviting me to play two sets over the course of the weekend. It was a real honour to be part of such an amazing festival that showcases our local artists while also bringing in so much talent to our town. We are truly blessed to have beautiful street art that often stops me in my tracks around every corner. It was great to see the community out and about, dancing in the streets, meeting muralists, taking part in awesome workshops, learning and growing together. I was stoked to be playing next to "The Golden Age" by local muralist Matty Kakez because I had recently seen him speak about the power of art to change the world at the Elephant Mountain Literary Festival. I love it when artists make their audience think, grow, and understand the world with more depth or a different perspective.

I had a phenomenal time playing tunes for such a diverse crowd of people. When I started just after 6pm on Saturday, there were only a few pals hanging around and some curious folks passing by. I really enjoyed playing for a number of families who rolled through and boogied all together. A highlight of my set was seeing a little girl who must have just learned to walk rock out to the beat. She had some serious moves and was groovin' for at least 15 minutes. What a legend! 

As the day turned to night the crowd started to grow and the dance community regulars gradually showed up. I was glad people spent time exploring all the other events going on in the city and showed up to round the night off. The vibe was uplifting and the energy was electric. It was such a blast to play tunes for y'all and I appreciate the energy everybody brought to the dance floor. I love playing long sets as I really get to explore my library and take people on a journey.

Nelson International Mural Festival // 2022

This is a mix dedicated to a beautiful friend who recently moved away from Nelson to the coast. The dance floor is where we met and our friendship grew into brotherhood. So grateful for all the groovin' we've squeezed into the time we've known each other. C-love LOVES the bangers, so this one is a lil' rowdy. My 12th year performing at Priceless was the most fun I've had yet. Thank you to all of the planners, volunteers, and attendees that make Priceless happen. Deep gratitude to the musicians who made the music in this set, especially previous Priceless guests El Búho (@el-buho), David Last (@davidlast), and Rumpistol (@rumpistol). 

Special shout out to my forever inspirations for Forest vibes - Ganucheau (@ganucheau) and Dr. Toast (@drtoast). It still feels like everything I do with music is trying to do for others what they have done for me.

Griffin Crafts - Priceless 2023

Never Stop Dancing is a labour of love dedicated to all those who can't stop two-steppin' to four to the floor beats, to those who constantly find themselves sayin' "one more song," to those who find their home on the dance floor. This mix series focused on amplifying the sounds of artists and DJs in the Kootenays and British Columbia who play house, disco, and techno. Bio: Inspired by the creativity, interconnectedness, and diversity of the natural world, mochilero strives to evoke a feeling of oneness on the dance floor by weaving together melodic, uplifting and soulful grooves. mochilero hosts events on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral territories of the Sinixt peoples, also known as Nelson, B.C. Through The Greater Groove, he aims to build community, solidarity, and nurture a space in which we can pursue joy in our full authenticity. 

This mix is titled "Midnight Bangers for 10 Years of Love." It was 12:30AM and I was up. We were out on the lake at my friends' stunning property, dancing under the stars, celebrating 10 years of love. Needless to say, love was in the air. The community they've fostered over the years was present, we were all connected in a multitude of ways. A good friend came up to be and said, "it is midnight, don't feel like you need to warm up the crowd, I want your fast stuff." It took me a few tracks to get into it, but I ended up taking up the challenge(which felt more like a demand at the time) and laid down a set that was out of my comfort zone. I'm not sure if it was even the vibe of the evening, as there were only about 5-10 people on the d-floor for it, but when I re-listened to the set I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the BPM and track selection. Some of the mixing was a bit abrupt for me, but that is what happens when I am scrambling to find tracks above 125 from my limited library. I learned a couple lessons on this evening. One, play what is in my heart and the people will come. Two, lots of tech-house can be fun, too :) So, here is another side of my musical taste you may not often hear. Hope you enjoy it!

Burning man was hard this year.
The heat was relentless. 
The "tree" was a safe shady refuge for many this year.  This organic oasis was a place to feel grounded in an extremely beautiful and harsh environment.
Many thanks to the crew who provided this space.
This morning set was performed on the axolotl art car with the support of the surly bird art car.
Join me for a selection of popular jingles and medium grade train wrecks.
Crossing generes, tempos and keys.  Selection was the goal not so much mixing perfection.  After all it was Sunday.
