Ø [Phase] has been a driving force in techno for over two decades, impacting the movement with his prototypical, stripped-back sound. Since cutting his teeth at Sony Music London as a mastering engineer in the late ’90s, he’s paved his way unapologetically, often challenging audiences in his relentless pursuit of pure artistry.
His stark tracks exude an unbiased confidence that effortlessly commands the dance floor, ripening into quintessential classics. At a deeper glance, his music reveals an unseen complexity that seems to defy time and space—meticulously arranged and fervently produced with technical mastery.

Initially debuting on Steve Bicknell’s Cosmic Records, he became the principal artist of Token Records, eventually launching his own Modwerks label.
Besides a steady stream of critically acclaimed releases under his solo moniker, Ø [Phase]’s expansive projects include ongoing collaborations with Luke Slater as Roog Unit and Phyxix alongside Matrixxman.
He’s co-produced iconic tracks with UK legends Underworld and crafted definitive remixes for the likes of Robert Hood, Len Faki, and Rødhåd, but his momentum won’t stop there.

For this week’s episode of CENTER BOOTH we welcome Pessimist: a Bristol mainstay, Ilian Tape affiliate and drum & bass innovator whose shadowy take on the genre often blurs the line with techno and dark ambient. Known for stark atmospherics, rolling percussion, broken beat wizardry and an uncompromising ear for an ominous mood, Pessimist has been a star attraction at cutting-edge events and clubs around the world for close to a decade, from Draaimolen to Club Night Club to Tresor to M.O.T.

His CENTER BOOTH set sinks its teeth in stealthily. The opening rolls in like fog — bass-heavy and understated — before giving way to tougher, militant steppers and half-time passages that shift the ground beneath your feet, slowing the body down without ever breaking the flow. This is almost all of what I played at MELT on 10/10/25. I did not record my set, but did another run through and here we go.  This being the first proper MELT in a while, I really wanted to set the mood and get things going right. And for me on a personal level, I opened the portal with some ambient/chill music I used to play for Greyboy before going into more beat driven stuff at sunset that’s not typically what you hear from me lately but stuff I’ve been feeling, and that was actually the first DJ set I’ve played out in a few years. The portal was open. You came through. I can't wait for the next one!

THE DEMIX - MELT 10/10/25 The Portal Opens (redux)

30 Years of Interdimensional Transmissions Tour came to Karmen Camina in Strasbourg on August 23, 2025 – celebrating 30 years of summoning music from the other side. We brought a special lineup reflecting the context of that city and artists we connect to, focused around BMG & Erika with venue transformations by Amber Gillen & the Infinite Dimensions Crew. For the show in Strasbourg, in addition to DJ sets from Ectomorph along with solo sets from Erika and BMG, we were pleased to welcome one of our musical heroes: the genre transcendent genius from The Hague: Intergalactic Gary. This was the final DJ set of the 30 Years of IT Tour. This set really aces the mission of the whole tour, and after guests like Rrose, dBridge and Clarisa Kimskii at other shows, we really feel like we expressed so many sides of our vision. IT’s first record launched with Ectomorph in February 1995, and we have been devoted to the left hand path of Detroit Techno to this day, striving to create music and environments that are both timeless and inspiring.
