I played my first big gig in Florence in 2002, at the Fotazza de Bass. It was the beginning of a long lasting love affair between myself and Italy. I love Italy, I love the people, the parties, the clubs, the festivals, the vibe, the food and a million other things. I am so grateful that over such a long period of time, Italy has allowed me to come and play music. Especially Florence, where it all started for me, and the Viper Club has been a big part of that. A location, that was normally used to play alternative and rock shows mostly, has always been perfect for “our” kind of music too. I have such amazing memories in this place and I hope to be back there one day. This set was recorded there on November 12th 2011, which seems like a lifetime away… well maybe it is. Today´s episode of AMFM contains the third hour of the set. I hope you enjoy the show as much as I enjoyed playing it…

There is so much to say about Stereo in Montreal. But I guess in order to really understand this club that opens at 2 am, serves no alcohol and closes at some point next day, you have to go and experience it, especially that incredible custom made sound system. This place is all about sound and dance. This is the second hour of the recording of a night in February 2018, when I played kind of a 6h set, so expect the next few shows to be all about Stereo... I cannot wait to be back… hope you enjoy the show.

Arcane 15 was founded by Maarten Ilegems in August 2019. 

He is an internationally known DJ/Producer/Singer/Songwriter from Antwerp/Belgium, known for his smooth, flawless mixing techniques and his original approach towards techno. His earlier project and alter ego Aorta already carried him around the globe in the past, performing at major clubs and festivals: Café D'Anvers-Antwerp, Belgium, Laundry Day-Antwerp, Belgium, Vooruit-Gent, Belgium, Food/Loop-Leuven, Belgium, DC 10- Ibiza, Berghain-Berlin, Boom Festival-Portugal, Dolphin Club-Tel-Aviv, Enlightenment-London, Fabric-London. Performing alongside some legendary acts including Sven Väth, Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Underworld, Green Velvet, Monika Krüse, Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier, Der Dritte Raum, Scan-X. 

Therefore, he still is remaining a long-standing creative force in the ever-popular Belgium techno scene. In the month of October 2019, he started working with Tom Moons as a production partner. Due to the COVID period they kept on producing together in silence. In order to bring this everlasting silence to an end, Maarten decided to launch his own record label ANTWRX in January 2020 and introduced Arcane 15 to the general public. In May 2021 this cooperation came to an end and decided to continue their journeys separately. 

From this moment on Maarten teamed up with Christian Martinec in who he had found a partner and friend sharing the same vision about the future and music in general. Christian is a DJ/Producer from München/Germany known for his open mindset towards Techno and production skills. Between them they are currently crafting a new and unique sound that is surely to become Arcane 15 MK2. ANTWRX started off by releasing Arcane 15’s unique sound and got picked up by Techno lovin’ DJ’s, Producers, Promotors, Fanbases and Influencers from around the globe. Other international DJ’s and Producers who shared the same approach and vision about Techno joined in and teamed up with Maarten and ANTWRX. They represent a perfect mix of known and new talents from around the entire world representing ANTWRX such as: Javier Sande - Chili, James Monro – Brazil/UK, Arman Rosul- Bangladesh, Diego Ramos – Mexico, Martinec – Germany, Lavo – Argentina, Mika kitten – Japan, … and will be released from September 2021 on.

So this is something new. I present to you on AMFM my latest #alonetogether live stream from August 20th 2021. That means you could also watch the whole thing on my youtube channel if you like. The difference here is though that the set is nicely mastered for your full listening pleasure and not just some weird streaming sound quality. If you like more of this, visit my Mixcloud Select page … I always put up all live streams as well as AMFM shows without me talking and of course mastered. After around 3h sadly my live stream computer started crashing, so if you discover the occasional weird mix, that was due to me trying to get that laptop back to work so the stream would  continue … I guess it got too hot in the rave cave for the little laptop… well that put my focus away from the music for a while… Besides that, when I stream, there is a little multitasking going on next to making sure I stream on various channels live, as I not only DJ, I also do the visuals, lights, fog, camera angles, communicating in the comment sections, as well hosting some of my neighbours who showed up in my rave cave. Don’t tell me I can´t walk and chew gum at the same time…;) . Anyways, loads of new music on here and I hope I see you somewhere soon again, live on the dance floor.

Chris Liebing is synonymous with techno. His legacy is long assured, but his craft never stops evolving. Whether as label head, podcast curator, DJ or producer, he continues to challenge himself and his audience to explore new realms in the electronic world. And often ahead of the curve, too, from the early, hard-edged and loopy 90s sound which is back en vogue today, through his more stripped-back turn of the millennium minimalism and onto the cinematic atmospheres and broader alternative electronica of his latest albums on Mute. It's no stretch to say, then, that Chris Liebing's story is closely connected to the story of techno itself. 

Liebing is considered a global techno ambassador, but his ambitious album projects and direct club tracks excite and innovate as much as any new school star. A proudly forward-thinking attitude ensures that is the case as his DJ tools and studio setup constantly evolve. He continues to be an early adopter of emerging technology, too, just as he was with vinyl controllers, Traktor and when leading the way with full hybrid/live DJing. 

These days, Liebing incorporates an ever wider sphere of sound into his own work. After an eight-year break from full lengths, 2018's Burn Slow on Mute was a creative rebirth that received critical acclaim and confounded all expectations. It was a melancholic mediation on gothic moods, looming apocalyptic landscapes and optimistic broken-beat techno that drew from his childhood love of Depeche Mode, Gary Numan and the New Romantic movement. 

Remixes for Depeche Mode and Goldfrapp followed alongside a collaborative single with Charlotte De Witte, and 2021 brought a second album on Mute, Another Day. It found Liebing exploring all new ways of expressing both his euphoric and melodic side, all with high-grade technical skill and meticulous sonic craft with a range of collaborators from Miles Cooper Seaton to Polly Scattergood. This exceptional form continued into 2023 as he returned to the club with his Love Those Who Fight With Passion And Faith EP on CLR, a passionate and politically charged call to the dance floor that joined Liebing and Luke Slater’s remix of Depeche Mode’s iconic ‘Ghosts Again’ in the first half of the year. 

Born in Giessen and active ever since the 1990s, Liebing has always platformed the talent around him as much as himself: a long time before they were commonplace, he famously helmed his own CLR podcast. For many years, it was the scene's most influential series, with a who's who of international pioneers at the helm. After that came the equally important AM/FM radio show, but now following a hiatus, the CLR podcast is back and pushing a fresh techno agenda, as is his iconic label of the same name.

In its first chapter, CLR stood for Chris Liebing Records, then Create Learn Realize, and now Create Learn Repeat - a subtle evolution that is at the heart of everything Liebing does. The label will always be synonymous with exciting techno and is now back hosting parties and festival stages. 

Though his music is underpinned by pulsating menace and a stomping sense of drama, Liebing himself is friendly with a famous smile. It is the music that motivates him and the freedom that comes with increased experience. These days there are no limits, no expectations, but a continued love for the art and craft of techno that is taking him down all new creative pathways.
