Since the first time I was lucky enough to play Awakenings in 2013. I often carry the vibe and feeling of what it feels like to play on the stage around with me for inspiration. 
I’ve missed Awakenings and all it means and cannot wait for our return, this mix is my tribute to that special intensity of feeling we feel in that world of Awakenings.

HI-LO, the techno alter-ego of Oliver Heldens debuts on Drumcode with a full-force two-tracker ‘Hypnos’. Unbeknown to many, the Dutch future house star has been cultivating a love of techno separate from his mainstage persona. As HI-LO, he’s remixed Nina Kraviz’s ‘Skyscrapers’ and released on Octopus and Filth on Acid, the latter consisting of collaborations with Reinier Zonneveld, T78 and Will Clarke. 
Over the last 12 months, HI-LO has become the sixth highest selling Techno artist on Beatport, as well as cemented his place as a top streaming act in the genre.

His Drumcode debut ‘Hypnos’ is effective and infectious in equal doses. The title track is led by a catchy bass groove that espouses plenty of personality and is a handy tool for building energy throughout the night. ‘Hera’ is a straight-edged euphoric gem, driven by an uplifting key riff throughout.

In the MOOD - Episode 391 - Live from Salón Amador, Medellín

After two years, I went on my first "overseas" trip to the USA, and for me, who also loves very much to tour in the Americas (north and south that is), two years of not going was quite a long time. You can imagine how excited I was to touch ground and meet loads of friends in person again, as well as roaming the streets of the cities I was in, a thing that I love to do wherever I go actually… well sometimes more sometimes less, depending on the city. Yet before I was allowed to enter the US, the immigration officer who greeted me decided to put me in a room for 3hours and didn't tell me why. I did have all the necessary paperwork and visas as I always do, but for some reason, I was not allowed to move and had to sit and wait for.. well, I still really don't know why, as after I was released, still no one told me what it was all about. It seems like travelling isn't getting any easier in this world these days. My first stop to play took me to Washington DC, to my beloved Flash Club. A beautiful club with an awesome crowd and a similarly excellent sound system. My first gig could not have been any better. And this is the 3h set that you are able to check now on my current AMFM show. I've finally been able to road test not only my new club mix of Circles feat Tom Adams, a track from my forthcoming album "Another Day" on @muterecords in November (by the way, super excited about this one.. please remember to check that out.. once it is released.. stay tuned), as well as loads new future and present CLR releases, by Frankie Bromley, Hertz Collision, Gene Richards Jr, DEAS, Drumcell and Thomas Hoffknecht.. as well as an awesome new remix by Planetary Assault Systems… and more.
After DC I went to Brooklyn for Afterlife at the Brooklyn Mirage and then on to Houston (my first time there) to play at the Bauhaus Club, which is also an amazing club with super sweet sound and a really fantastic crowd once more. As you can see the first US weekender after 2 years went super well and I wanna thank everyone who helped make that possible and showed up enthusiastically on the dance floors. Today's show contains the third and last hour of the set. By the way, I will be back in the US and Canada in October and November, once more at the Brooklyn Mirage with my sis Nicole Moudaber, as well as other amazing places. Pedro Cravo is a masterful hypnotist behind the decks. Conjuring up different loops, he enchants his audiences with groovy yet mysterious sounds, expertly combining the seemingly opposed deep and rough textures techno has to offer. A magician in the studio, Cravo lends this signature sound to his productions, which are often met with high acclaim within the scene. It is no wonder then, that his platform Hayes Collective (he is co-founder) is widely considered one of the hottest outlets for modern and groovy cuts and is probably the most influential spanish techno export currently available, with names such as Temudo and ViL to boast. Enjoy this one-hour showing of functional as well as asthetic electronic music, crafted for the dancefloor, yet perfectly suited for simply listening as well.

BCCO Podcast 124: Cravo

Amsterdam Dance Event did actually happen. Well, it was a small edition, but at least something. I must say I really liked the Dutch approach to mask-wearing. Only mandatory in public transport… and maybe that is only me.. but the idea to only do daytime parties that all need to end by midnight seemed somewhat nice. It helped a lot to have a rested Sunday to roam around the streets of Amsterdam. I played two gigs on Saturday the 16th. The first was Secret Project after Anfisa Letyago and before Jeff Mills, an awesome festival at a great location, and it perfectly tuned me up for the 3h set that I played right after Anna at Audio Obscura, where I ended at midnight. Also, a really great location with an absolutely energetic and amazing crowd (maybe another benefit of having early parties.. comment in the comments if you like). All in all, it was an absolutely fantastic day in Amsterdam with two awesome gigs. Let´s continue that roll… So this week´s AMFM is the first hour of my Audio Obscura gig, where I started with my new club mix of the newly released single “Circles” feat. Tom Adams from my forthcoming album on Mute Records (the release date is the19th of November and it is called “Another Day”). Can´t wait to get this out. Hope you enjoy the show!

On the 6th of November, I had the pleasure, after more than two years, to play the terrace of the fabulous Space club in Miami again. I feel playing at Space, especially into the early morning hours requires a little different type of setlist, and even more so when the sun starts to come up. So I specially prepared a "terrace" set and included some of my all-time faves in combination with new great things. Hiroko Yamamura opened with a beautifully flowing selection and set the mood for the whole night and morning. I started at 4am and ended up playing for 5h which was so much fun, especially dropping some of my all-time classics again, something I didn't do for a while. Well you can listen to the whole thing now and make your own verdict. Hope you enjoy. Oh and by the way, some news you deserve to know as you have been reading so far :). Since I restarted my CLR label this year, I decided that I will bring back the CLR Podcast once a month with a special DJ set by the artists who release on the label. GEM FM 229 SECRET CINEMA

At one point last year, I thought I was done with my #alonetogether live streams (if you missed some, check my Youtube channel). Not that I don’t enjoy those streams, I do very much, but playing in front of real people just can’t be beaten. Anyways, since this pandemic is somehow never-ending, I decided to dust off my streaming equipment and lock myself in again, just before X-Mas, for five and a half hours in my Stream Rave Cave, to play some music. This is the complete set in better audio quality than in the video stream. Of course, the video is still in its full glory on my Youtube Channel as well. If you are on Mixcloud Select, you can even download this set and a lot more music on your phone. I hope you enjoy this one, I really did playing it. It is actually fun to do those streams on my own, essentially taking care of the lights, visuals, internet connection, stream, camera angles, hot teas (it was cold in there) - oh yeah.. and the music of course… This set is delivered in 5 parts, so watch out for it...

Set Report AMFM 295

We go back in time for 10 years, to a well known club in Berlin, where I celebrated the 10 Years Anniversary of my label CLR, and guess what - also played for 10 hours. Can´t believe that this is already 10 years ago really. Still kind of remember that night/day very well, especially the magic moments during the party and also especially at the end, when I played that DJ Hell track. With me on that night playing were Traversable Wormhole, @sanhajimastering Brian Sanhaji, @tommyfourseven_47 and @monoloc_official  until I finished off the night/day with my closing set. These are memories that are ingrained in my brain and I surely hope we can soon do this again. So this week it´s the first hour of this set. All the rest will be coming on a weekly basis, as you all know by now I guess. Chris Liebing is synonymous with techno. His legacy is long assured, but his craft never stops evolving. Whether as label head, podcast curator, DJ or producer, he continues to challenge himself and his audience to explore new realms in the electronic world. And often ahead of the curve, too, from the early, hard-edged and loopy 90s sound which is back en vogue today, through his more stripped-back turn of the millennium minimalism and onto the cinematic atmospheres and broader alternative electronica of his latest albums on Mute. It's no stretch to say, then, that Chris Liebing's story is closely connected to the story of techno itself. 

Liebing is considered a global techno ambassador, but his ambitious album projects and direct club tracks excite and innovate as much as any new school star. A proudly forward-thinking attitude ensures that is the case as his DJ tools and studio setup constantly evolve. He continues to be an early adopter of emerging technology, too, just as he was with vinyl controllers, Traktor and when leading the way with full hybrid/live DJing. 

These days, Liebing incorporates an ever wider sphere of sound into his own work. After an eight-year break from full lengths, 2018's Burn Slow on Mute was a creative rebirth that received critical acclaim and confounded all expectations. It was a melancholic mediation on gothic moods, looming apocalyptic landscapes and optimistic broken-beat techno that drew from his childhood love of Depeche Mode, Gary Numan and the New Romantic movement. 

Remixes for Depeche Mode and Goldfrapp followed alongside a collaborative single with Charlotte De Witte, and 2021 brought a second album on Mute, Another Day. It found Liebing exploring all new ways of expressing both his euphoric and melodic side, all with high-grade technical skill and meticulous sonic craft with a range of collaborators from Miles Cooper Seaton to Polly Scattergood. This exceptional form continued into 2023 as he returned to the club with his Love Those Who Fight With Passion And Faith EP on CLR, a passionate and politically charged call to the dance floor that joined Liebing and Luke Slater’s remix of Depeche Mode’s iconic ‘Ghosts Again’ in the first half of the year. 

Born in Giessen and active ever since the 1990s, Liebing has always platformed the talent around him as much as himself: a long time before they were commonplace, he famously helmed his own CLR podcast. For many years, it was the scene's most influential series, with a who's who of international pioneers at the helm. After that came the equally important AM/FM radio show, but now following a hiatus, the CLR podcast is back and pushing a fresh techno agenda, as is his iconic label of the same name.

In its first chapter, CLR stood for Chris Liebing Records, then Create Learn Realize, and now Create Learn Repeat - a subtle evolution that is at the heart of everything Liebing does. The label will always be synonymous with exciting techno and is now back hosting parties and festival stages. 

Though his music is underpinned by pulsating menace and a stomping sense of drama, Liebing himself is friendly with a famous smile. It is the music that motivates him and the freedom that comes with increased experience. These days there are no limits, no expectations, but a continued love for the art and craft of techno that is taking him down all new creative pathways.
