As a regular fixture at the world's top clubs and festivals, Glasgow born producer and DJ Gary Beck has long been established as a primary figure in techno. 
Known and respected for his unique sound, he has gained support from the best names in the business and released music on some of the genre's leading labels, including institutions such as Soma, Cocoon & Drumcode, as well as his own BEK Audio imprint. 
Since his emergence onto the scene in 2007, Beck has accumulated an impressive list of achievements. Highlights include a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, two Boiler Room session's, featured music on BBC 1 Drama ‘Stonemouth', as well as numerous collaborations with exceptional talents such as MR. G, Green Velvet, Debra Debs, Mark Broom and Speedy J. 
2012 saw the release of his seminal debut album 'Bring a Friend' on the legendary Soma Records label. It was their 100th release, and this was a great honour for Gary. His second album 'Dal Riata' was released in November 2019. Gary also enjoys producing under his alias's Sosak & Tanera.
In terms of performing, Gary has appeared at some of the worlds largest and respected clubs and festivals, with shows at renowned venues such as Womb Tokyo, Fabric London, Awakenings, T in the Park Scotland, Spazio Rome, Output NYC, Printworks London, and Timewarp, to name a few. 
In addition to a busy performance schedule, Beck spends time as head of BEK Audio, an imprint which has quickly become one of the most revered techno labels on the scene after releases from the likes of Floorplan, Mark Broom, Slam, DJ Rush & Ritzi Lee.

LA has always had and has a special place in my heart. So many amazing memories. Been playing there since the late 90’s. In 2009 I played for the first time for “Interface” (now @Observe) and it happened to be the first time that I met Moe Espinosa aka @drumcell who is one of my best friends ever since. That first party was quite something, as I forgot one of my bags with my sound interfaces in the hotel and Moe had to drive me back to the hotel (a 45min drive.. well yeah, that is LA). During the drive we got to talk a little and I asked him if those parties he is doing never get busted as they are mostly illegal in downtown LAs warehouse district. He told me “never”. Next thing that happened was that he got a phone call with me in the car driving and someone told him that the fire marshals just showed up and busted the event. He as the promoter of the event couldn’t be there as he was driving the idiot who forgot his bag in the hotel. To make a long story short, he and his crew organised a new warehouse nearby and I ended up playing till the morning. I recently posted about it, so go back on my Instagram and you see a little video how all this went down.
This time it was the 20 year anniversary. I managed to not forget my bags, but when I entered the event space, I saw a police helicopter hovering above me with a spotlight shining right at me. Luckily it turned out they weren’t interested in our party, so this time no location change was needed and we had a blast. I am so honoured to be playing at their 20 year anniversary. The crew around Drumcell has been a cornerstone in the LA underground Techno scene and without them, Techno on the west coast would not be what it is today. All promoters running Techno shows in LA, San Diego and so on should be grateful for them building such an amazing scene. @observe , good luck for the next 20 years and I hope I can play a little part in it, also in the future.
My set was about 3,5h long and today´s show contains the third and last part of it. AMFM I 408 - Live @Observe - 20 Year Anniversary, LA - 26.11.22 - 3/3

NYE parties are always something special and this one was no different, as it was with the fabulous team of Neopop in Portugal. I played the 90 min closing set after Ben Klock and I mixed a lot of old and new stuff, trying to get as much power in the end as possible. I also played a lot of new CLR Releases, including my own, which will be out on January 27th - keep an eye out for it.  And I closed with one of the biggest tracks for me of 2022, you gotta check the tracklist and the actual set to find out which one that is. Back in one of my favourite clubs ever… Nordstern in Basel. For those who haven't been there, it is a boat and has the best layout a club can possibly have. Amazing sound system, huge dance floor, DJ booth on almost the same level at the end of the room, all black and amazing lights and visuals – a perfect place to get lost in the groove. This time I played an all night long set, started at 1 and ended at some point after 6. This week´s AMFM 419 is actually the 4th hour of my set, next week´s show will contain the 5th and last. Chris Liebing is synonymous with techno. His legacy is long assured, but his craft never stops evolving. Whether as label head, podcast curator, DJ or producer, he continues to challenge himself and his audience to explore new realms in the electronic world. And often ahead of the curve, too, from the early, hard-edged and loopy 90s sound which is back en vogue today, through his more stripped-back turn of the millennium minimalism and onto the cinematic atmospheres and broader alternative electronica of his latest albums on Mute. It's no stretch to say, then, that Chris Liebing's story is closely connected to the story of techno itself. 

Liebing is considered a global techno ambassador, but his ambitious album projects and direct club tracks excite and innovate as much as any new school star. A proudly forward-thinking attitude ensures that is the case as his DJ tools and studio setup constantly evolve. He continues to be an early adopter of emerging technology, too, just as he was with vinyl controllers, Traktor and when leading the way with full hybrid/live DJing. 

These days, Liebing incorporates an ever wider sphere of sound into his own work. After an eight-year break from full lengths, 2018's Burn Slow on Mute was a creative rebirth that received critical acclaim and confounded all expectations. It was a melancholic mediation on gothic moods, looming apocalyptic landscapes and optimistic broken-beat techno that drew from his childhood love of Depeche Mode, Gary Numan and the New Romantic movement. 

Remixes for Depeche Mode and Goldfrapp followed alongside a collaborative single with Charlotte De Witte, and 2021 brought a second album on Mute, Another Day. It found Liebing exploring all new ways of expressing both his euphoric and melodic side, all with high-grade technical skill and meticulous sonic craft with a range of collaborators from Miles Cooper Seaton to Polly Scattergood. This exceptional form continued into 2023 as he returned to the club with his Love Those Who Fight With Passion And Faith EP on CLR, a passionate and politically charged call to the dance floor that joined Liebing and Luke Slater’s remix of Depeche Mode’s iconic ‘Ghosts Again’ in the first half of the year. 

Born in Giessen and active ever since the 1990s, Liebing has always platformed the talent around him as much as himself: a long time before they were commonplace, he famously helmed his own CLR podcast. For many years, it was the scene's most influential series, with a who's who of international pioneers at the helm. After that came the equally important AM/FM radio show, but now following a hiatus, the CLR podcast is back and pushing a fresh techno agenda, as is his iconic label of the same name.

In its first chapter, CLR stood for Chris Liebing Records, then Create Learn Realize, and now Create Learn Repeat - a subtle evolution that is at the heart of everything Liebing does. The label will always be synonymous with exciting techno and is now back hosting parties and festival stages. 

Though his music is underpinned by pulsating menace and a stomping sense of drama, Liebing himself is friendly with a famous smile. It is the music that motivates him and the freedom that comes with increased experience. These days there are no limits, no expectations, but a continued love for the art and craft of techno that is taking him down all new creative pathways.
