As a producer, DJ, and record label owner, Barcelona-based artist Adriana Lopez is widely acclaimed as Colombia’s leading techno figure.

Starting out in Bogota, where she cut her teeth holding down residencies at Club BarC, Cinema and La Sala whilst performing across her native country’s different cities, Adriana Lopez moved to Spain in 2003 where she quickly made a name for herself throughout Europe and beyond.

With years of experience behind her, Lopez’s deep understanding of techno is evident in her high quality and tasteful selections: mixing records with a technical finesse that has led to appearances at the likes of DGTL Festival (Barcelona, Madrid), Rainbow Serpent Festival (Australia), Village Underground (London), Faust and Vurt (Seoul), Vent (Tokyo), Lux Fragil (Lisbon), Mondo Disko (Madrid), Berghain and Tresor (Berlin) and many more.

Meanwhile, as a producer Lopez has released several EPs, singles, and remixes on her own Grey Report as well as other labels such as Stroboscopic Artefacts, Modularz, Semantica, PoleGroup, BPitch and Mistress Recordings, among others.

Colombian born Adriana Lopez has established herself as one of the most influential techno artists of all time. 

Over the years, the DJ, producer and label head, has been perfecting her instantly recognisable style of brooding, hypnotic and driving techno through releases on labels known to nurture this sound, such as Spanish labels PoleGroup and Semantica and of course on her own label, Grey Report where Adriana has been developing and releasing music from artists such as Developer, NX1, Takaaki Itoh & more.  

As a DJ, Adriana has been developing her craft for well over two decades now, beginning in her hometown of Bogota in the late 90’s before moving to Barcelona in 2003 which opened up a global touring schedule with performances at the best clubs in the world. Her sound is dark yet groovy, its rhythm and energy offers pure escapism. It’s hard to find a more dedicated, consistent and skillful approach to DJ’ing…  

Adriana steps up for the second edition of our newly launched fabric podcast. For 2 hours, we’re treated to a ferocious offering of unreleased music, current favourites and some of Lopez’s own productions.

Steve Rachmad’s techno project STERAC has for many years been a seminal force in his native Netherlands and beyond. Releasing over 100 releases across the much feted Delsin, Klockworks, Mote-Evolver, Tresor and others, he’s become something of a cult figure, and dubbed a father of Detroit in The Netherlands for added points. It’s hard to imagine a more venerated artist and there’s good reason why, Rachmad’s fearless approach to production puts him a cut above many of his peers, often taking pure feeling and a collection of well worn machines as a starting point and trusting his gut along the path to finished product. For Bassiani Podcast 190, the Dutch master of techno delivers a thorough lesson in expert mixing. From orchestral strings to utilitarian bleeps, Rachmad’s sound bridges a gap no one else can. An ode to the motor city with a healthy measure of string composition thrown in, recorded live at the club during the Token X Reclaim Your City night on November 3rd.

The 195th Global Vibe Radio voyage sees PoleGroup mainstay and Faut Section label boss Lewis Fautzi at the helm for one hour of high-intensity, trippy, mental techno.

Lewis Fautzi has had a meteoric ascension in the global techno scene like a projectile fired into space at the speed of light. Establishing the norm of releasing on well-respected labels, his discography began with a 2013 release on Soniculture followed by a lineage of releases on classic techno label Slam ́s imprint Soma Quality, including his debut LP "The Gare Album" that received consistent support and play-time from none other than Jeff Mills.

Lewis Fautzi didn't stop there. Next came releases on Len Faki's Figure, Oscar Mulero's Warm Up Recordings, BPitch Records and regular contributions to PoleGroup, a label that he now calls his home. On top of continuing to release on these esteemed imprints, Fautzi went on to launch his very own Faut Section label, all the while maintaining a busy touring schedule that sees him perform at the world's most respected techno events.

Keeping your listening needs topped as the countdown to 4th June begins, we will be bringing you exclusive mixes from artists that have dazzled at the festival before and thoses who are on our radar for the future.

Kicking off the series is DJ, producer and underground hero, Ashley Burchett aka @ashley-phase. A cornerstone of the European scene for the last 2 decades and a leading face of Belgian techno giant, Token, Ashley’s style of full-throttle, dark, rolling techno has gifted us dancefloor gems like Binary Opposition,The Bwiti Initiate, Plateau Station, Border Country ft. Underworld and one of the albums of the summer in WSNWG004 with Rødhåd. A standout performer at Junction 2 2017, the London local locks in another power hour of entrancing, stripped-back, low-end rumblers.

Chris Liebing is synonymous with techno. His legacy is long assured, but his craft never stops evolving. Whether as label head, podcast curator, DJ or producer, he continues to challenge himself and his audience to explore new realms in the electronic world. And often ahead of the curve, too, from the early, hard-edged and loopy 90s sound which is back en vogue today, through his more stripped-back turn of the millennium minimalism and onto the cinematic atmospheres and broader alternative electronica of his latest albums on Mute. It's no stretch to say, then, that Chris Liebing's story is closely connected to the story of techno itself. 

Liebing is considered a global techno ambassador, but his ambitious album projects and direct club tracks excite and innovate as much as any new school star. A proudly forward-thinking attitude ensures that is the case as his DJ tools and studio setup constantly evolve. He continues to be an early adopter of emerging technology, too, just as he was with vinyl controllers, Traktor and when leading the way with full hybrid/live DJing. 

These days, Liebing incorporates an ever wider sphere of sound into his own work. After an eight-year break from full lengths, 2018's Burn Slow on Mute was a creative rebirth that received critical acclaim and confounded all expectations. It was a melancholic mediation on gothic moods, looming apocalyptic landscapes and optimistic broken-beat techno that drew from his childhood love of Depeche Mode, Gary Numan and the New Romantic movement. 

Remixes for Depeche Mode and Goldfrapp followed alongside a collaborative single with Charlotte De Witte, and 2021 brought a second album on Mute, Another Day. It found Liebing exploring all new ways of expressing both his euphoric and melodic side, all with high-grade technical skill and meticulous sonic craft with a range of collaborators from Miles Cooper Seaton to Polly Scattergood. This exceptional form continued into 2023 as he returned to the club with his Love Those Who Fight With Passion And Faith EP on CLR, a passionate and politically charged call to the dance floor that joined Liebing and Luke Slater’s remix of Depeche Mode’s iconic ‘Ghosts Again’ in the first half of the year. 

Born in Giessen and active ever since the 1990s, Liebing has always platformed the talent around him as much as himself: a long time before they were commonplace, he famously helmed his own CLR podcast. For many years, it was the scene's most influential series, with a who's who of international pioneers at the helm. After that came the equally important AM/FM radio show, but now following a hiatus, the CLR podcast is back and pushing a fresh techno agenda, as is his iconic label of the same name.

In its first chapter, CLR stood for Chris Liebing Records, then Create Learn Realize, and now Create Learn Repeat - a subtle evolution that is at the heart of everything Liebing does. The label will always be synonymous with exciting techno and is now back hosting parties and festival stages. 

Though his music is underpinned by pulsating menace and a stomping sense of drama, Liebing himself is friendly with a famous smile. It is the music that motivates him and the freedom that comes with increased experience. These days there are no limits, no expectations, but a continued love for the art and craft of techno that is taking him down all new creative pathways.
