Inspired by the “Canticles of Holy Mary” written during the reign of Alfonso X of Castile El Sabio, this work aims to capture the essence of medieval Spanish music from the 12th and 13th centuries. It’s an ideal track for projects that need a playful and festive medieval or Celtic musical ambience. Featured instruments such as Acoustic guitar, flutes, cello, ethnic drums, mandolin and ethnic bowed strings like gadulka or hardanger.

The Medieval Marketplace Of Jerez

From the upcoming album Attic Story, The Christmas Ball is about a singular festive ornament dangling from a wilted Christmas tree. Its crystal-like exterior absorbing every glimmer of light, it randomly reflects a trickling sparkle across the room.

I play my "Song for a Silvereye" on a Silvereye flute from my Takahe Flutes Etsy store. The Silvereye is also on eBay and on my Website, DrJohnLaurence.com. The Silvereye is based on the Cherokee four-hole whistle and is named after the silvereye bird native to Australia and New Zealand. The guitar is a Takamine-D-Series, rescued from a dumpster by one of my daughters. It needed some work but now sounds wonderful. Country life in Ojai Ca. at home all that came in on radio was a country radio station, slowly I fell in love with country music. Enjoying the CA based band Highway 101 .. and many others inspired my country twang for a few country songs produced with my friend Randy. 🌼

Dark, bewitching and monotonous ambient with an uncanny feel. Ringing synths and a deep and almost bowed bass are accompanied by a heartbeat like pumping kick.
