Le quartet Flying Home rend hommage à Illinois Jacquet en particulier, à ses chorus, à son répertoire, à ses disciples et, plus généralement, à ces combos alliant le son du saxophone ténor à celui de l'orgue Hammond B3, de la guitare et de la batterie.
La formule permet d'évoquer à quatre musiciens, la puissance d'un big band plein feu ou, en contrepoint, le moelleux d'un tapis de cordes accompagnant un soliste. Le répertoire est ancré dans la tradition des musiques des années 40, celles des big bands swing pour les riffs d'orgue et répertoires empruntés, mais aussi des chorus des Texas Tenors et des pionniers de la guitare amplifiée. Le blues et le gospel ne sont jamais bien loin. Les mélodies sont belles et profondes, les rythmes enivrants.
