I recommend that anyone learning to play the guitar listen to this piece over and over again, playing the Gm/B♭pentatonic scale in various ways, and trying to find a phrase that you like.

The volume adjustment during mixdown is optimized for the environment when using the earphones that come with the iPhone. If you feel that the volume of the guitar playing in this work is low, please use earphones and check the volume balance of this recording. It seems that earphones other than those that came with the iPhone do not have any problems. When using an Android device and when connecting an audio interface to a PC, I connected inexpensive earphones and confirmed that the guitar volume can be heard at a roughly appropriate balance.

There is another way. I have embedded a SoundCloud player on my blog to introduce my works, but I noticed that this work sounds harder (mid-high tones are clearer) than when played directly in the browser. "Micro Jam" (demo v1) 

A short one minute jam or sketch I played this weekend using my 37-key Korg microKEY AIR as a MIDI controller. The VST sounds come from Arturia Mini V4 (Minimoog bass sound), Audiolounge Key Affair 3, Spectrasonics Keyscape, UVI FMX2 XL, Gospel Musicians' Neo-Soul Keys Studio 2 and UVI Emulation III. Drums and the fantastic drum beat come from UVI Beatbox Anthology 2 (The 7o7 kit).

Recorded and mixed in Cubase Pro with significant help from iZotope Neutron. Mastered with Ozone 11.

This track might test the patience of listeners, as it is yet another iteration of the same idea. However, each version brings a new arrangement and consistently reaches a higher level of quality. This song is a Phish song written by Trey, Page, Fishman, and Tom Marshall, who wrote the lyrics. Originally, on their album Hoist, it's just Trey playing and acoustic guitar and singing. Stephen and I wanted to give it our own flavor though. After I asked him to play banjo on it and produce it for me, we started spitballing ideas about how we could add something more to it. Originally, we both played every instrument, guitar, banjo, mandolin, and piano, through the whole thing, except the first and last verses. Then we decided to trickle the instruments in for maximum effect. I also sang the harmonies throughout. Finally, Stephen came up with the idea to wrap the last verse in a mono effect, giving it a detached feel. He mixed it brilliantly, too.
  This song has always had a special place deep in my heart. Sometimes you hear a song and recognize such truth in it, it feels like it was written about you. This is such a song for me. Plus, it was written by my favorite band, Phish, so it has even more meaning for me. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.

Lost In Dreams

What happens if "Dust In the Wind" meets "Classical Gas"?  I sought to answer that profound question one morning when I was riffing on an A-minor chord and couldn't think of another way to describe this acoustic concoction. I couldn't think of a better name for it either, but seemed to have a "ballad" feel to it, either about a hero or villain, I'll let you decide, and maybe catch a "catnap" thinking about it:)

Rust Cutler has no money, so he only experiments with low-cost synthesizers and no Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). He'd rather have hardware that makes interesting sounds than a decent computer. He never thought he'd have to point out that no artificial intelligence is used in his compositions, but apparently we are now in that world. Rust Cutler strongly believes limitations spark creativity and enjoys creating a melody where perhaps none should exist.  All tracks are single musician, single take recordings with no editing and no processing except onboard effects.
