Each individual can interpret these 5 simple words in their own very different ways. Perhaps there was a toxic relationship that they needed to end. Perhaps "I don't need you anymore" could be aimed towards not just a person, but a habit. A substance - a struggle. Perhaps it could even be aimed at the idea of speaking to your former self - the old man, the sinful nature. In whichever way the listener relates to these words, the sentiment seems to be that there are some things that are best left in the past.
