James Priestley and Giles Smith celebrate 10 years of Secretsundaze by re-launching the record label, and kicking off with a new 2CD mix compilation featuring tracks from esteemed labels such as Planet E, R&amp;S, Ostgut Ton, Hospital Records etc...
The first 500 copies of the CD will include a code for a free entrance at one of their Secretsundaze events.

The mix begins patiently with recent releases from Mark E and 2010 whiz kid Space Dimension Controller, before picking up the pace, moving into steadier garagey territory, with tracks from George Levings' (Commix) GHL moniker and Parisian Frank Roger. Being the party's 10th anniversary celebration, it was only right to include some of James' favourites, played mostly in the formative years of the club, but still sounding as fresh and relevant in his sets today.

There's the little-known gem 'Taking Over Me' by Marcus Intalex + S.T. Files, Recloose's off kilter broken beat 'Ain't Changin' and the Detroit inspired sub-heavy proto-UK bass 'Cargo' from Zed Bias' alterego Maddslinky. Once peaked, the mix heads into more distinctive electronic territory, with contributions from Jimmy Edgar as Xdistrict and the simply stunning 'Tan Sedan' from DJ Harvey's latest project.
This is a massive licensing coup as, to this date, only Optimo's Fabric mix has been granted the use of material from Locussolus. Metope and Steffi are responsible for taking things down into deeper, headier territory, before a sneaky 'one-more' with Voyage's 1980 underground bomb 'I Love You Dancer' drawing things warmly to a heartfelt close.

10 Years of secretsundaze' is yet another perfect snapshot of the duo's ability to throw together undiscovered classics with the newest, freshest sounds without ever compromising to trends. With a supporting world tour heading through Berlin, Barcelona, New York, Tokyo and Ibiza to name just a few, the label primed with a whole slew of 12" releases to come and The Secret Agency going from strength to strength, 2011 is set to be yet another blow-out year for secretsundaze's 10th birthday.

@barrycantswim drops into the Mixmag Lab at No90 Hideout to deliver a 60 minute DJ set of summer-y house groovers.

"It’s been three years since my last Mixmag set and this was a bit of a full circle moment for me. No90 was actually where I played my second ever DJ set. I barely slept the night before with nerves haha. Felt really special to be back in that room again for the first time since and remembering that moment," says Barry Can't Swim. 

"It’s been getting more and more normal to play faster and faster sets the past few years. I really wanted to show that you can still play tracks that have energy without having to ramp up the bpm too high and lose the groove. Big up! ❤️"

She’s a Dancing Machine

Evolution is a fuzzy thing when it comes to electronic dance music, especially when left in the hands of certain DJ’s. From experimental to disco to pop to house and everything in between and to come, the mutation is the now and new. Known for mutations of her own, MAGDA, the Berlin resident DJ and producer, brings her influences and creations full circle in this runway soundtrack act SHE’S A DANCING MACHINE. Through over thirty tracks of classic and fresh as hell dance burners, the selection and style is reflective yet reactive to what “minimal” music and mix albums ought to create. From robotic hustles to disco house sprinkler moves and electro-tech windmills, Magda turns the years back to phuture.

Equal parts perspiration and inspiration, SHE’S A DANCING MACHINE delivers with micro-edits, custom loops and lofty effects, born out of her DJ ascension from beating the bits out of her Final Scratch in clubs. The mix has the range you’d expect with top shelf artists included such as Metro Area, Ricardo Villalobos, Marc Houle and Robert Babicz and sets up some surprises from decades past by dropping in Larry Heard and Portion Control. Amongst personal favorites from The Persuader (Svek’s Jesper Dahlbäck) she’s not afraid to loop in her own productions from Minus and her new label (along with Marc Houle and Troy Pierce), Items & Things.

SHE’S A DANCING MACHINE paints the experience and attitude from a night with Magda in control at the decks. Since the turn of the millennium she’s been building a steady fan base throughout Europe, North America and Japan with a few residencies built by demand, charming us along the way with a smile. Magda has taken the chosen not given path of a DJ with a mission- searching, finding and carving her own path from being a slave to the rhythm.
