Since his debut EP (Stars) for Bedrock was met with huge critical acclaim at the tail end of last year, the clamour and anticipation for another instalment from Hannes Bieger has reached fever pitch and, at last, the wait is over. The masterful Berlin-based producer returns with an absolute treasure, titled A Million Souls, featuring the stunning vocals of Francesca Lombardo, and yet another example of his spine-tingling electronic wizardry in the form of Echelon.

A Million Souls floats on an utterly hypnotising, pulsating groove as it spawns irresistible acidic hooks before dropping down to unveil and carry the heart-melting voice of Francesca Lombardo. Italian-born and classically trained, Francesca has carved her own defiantly unique path in electronic music, one that represents her multi-disciplinary musical background and transcends the dance floor via an inimitable emotional narrative that she injects into every project she touches as a renowned DJ, live artist, producer, remixer, musician, vocalist and label boss.

Since stepping into the spotlight as an artist in his own right in 2017, having built a career and gained an untouchable reputation as one of Europes most in-demand mixing engineers, Hannes Bieger has focused his bounteous energy on producing his own music and creating an unforgettable live show. He has an exceptional talent that cannot be ignored, and his A Million Souls collaboration with Francesca Lombardo raises an already high creative bar ever higher.

Completing the package, Echelon reverts to an instrumental blueprint, brimming with Hannes Biegers contagious energy and highlighting his deft creative skills as it tweaks and remoulds a multitude of acidic motifs into a gloriously spiralling edgy ride a perfect finale to yet an other exceptionally inspired EP.

@qt-high continues his hot streak of releases, this time with a new EP and debut on Deep Root Underground. The Nibiru EP wastes absolutely no time getting down to business: space-age keys trot to a build within seconds, and every drop following gives just a hair more satisfaction, turning the syncopated groove into a thumping trance. From here, “Live Resin” takes the alien vibes of “Nibiru” and morphs them into a muted banger. Closer “BPM” warps the sound further, subverting tech melodies & textures in favor of glitched-out synth turns, and QT-HIGH makes it clear that he’s not out to meet conventions. This EP brings the Underground into its own world where tech & progressive beats dance among exotic melodies and industrialized sampling.

The South American connection is once again strong as onedotsixtwo continues to showcase the finest proper progressive talent emerging around the globe in 2020. This time, Brazilian DJ/Producer Luciano Scheffer and DJ/Producer/Drummer Julián Nates from Argentina combine their immense studio talents and present their label debut ‘Febo’.

‘Febo’ is an immediately hypnotic exposition of the duo’s immense studio talents. They dial up an irresistible energy flow and fire up impeccable melodic hooks to take the track on a soaring journey towards the heavens, creating a wonderfully hypnotic masterpiece. Luciano Scheffer & Julián Nates have a uniquely delicate touch that lets their music breathe and express its positivity to perfection, and there’s more to come. With its instantly addictive hip-swinging rhythm, ‘Baco’ steadily evolves into another pulsating, hypnotic journey, laced with floating layers of subtle melodic beauty, forming a flawless partner for ‘Febo’.

Studio collaborations are always an interesting prospect and Luciano Scheffer’s trademark style merging progressive house and techno, with hypnotic sounds and deep atmospheres, combined with Julián Nates’ background as a musician who already played drums, piano and violin, prior developing his electronic music production and DJ skills, creates a wonderfully expressive chemistry between these rising stars. 

Luciano Scheffer & Julián Nates’ individual talents have already been making waves for the likes of Balkan Connection, The Soundgarden, Or Two Strangers, Particles, Massive Harmony, Clubsonica, Stellar Fountain and Mango Alley, amongst others, and now their new collaborative ‘Febo’ release for onedotsixtwo is a step up to the next level of creative excellence.

Operating out of his Cordoba home at the base of the Sierras Chicas, Sebastian Sellares has been a consistently impressive performer with a string of high-profile releases. A 2018 debut for PHW Elements was soon followed by work for MNL, UV and August 2020's three-track "Cordoba" EP for onedotsixtwo. Inspired by the likes of Depeche Mode and Daft Punk, his music has received support from a raft of high-rollers that include Cid Inc., Aly & Fila, and fellow countryman, Hernan Cattaneo. A Proton Music debut remixing Hot TuneiK's "Circles of You" in June 2019 is now followed by a twin-track debut that opens with the sparkling "Jinsei". Redolent in dynamic percussive rhythms, a similarly cadenced synth line and syncopated bassline provide additional groove before an earworm motif reveals itself. Waxing and waning over the 11-minute magnum opus, counterpoint string phrasing adds subtlety and guile. The rhythmic prowess of "Zen State" is immediately apparent as a sumptuous bassline supplies depth with its gated pattern. Before long, a richly delayed synth line makes an appearance that repeats pre and post-breakdown while an additional free-flowing synth and smooth pad captures a joyous mood.

Nick Muir needs no introduction to the underground dance cognoscenti. Part of the Bedrock duo alongside John Digweed, renowned for such iconic hits as 1999's "Heaven Scent" and 2002's "Emerald", the UK DJ and producer has gone on to become a regular on the label of the same name with over a double century of credits under his own name, often in collaboration with the label head-honcho, Digweed. Regular global DJ performances testify to a loyal following as live streams during 2020's coronavirus lockdown continued to see Muir spearhead a new approach to life behind the decks. Making his Proton Music debut, the Nick Muir remix of "Jinsei" captures the essence of the original with its immediately recognisable central motif and multiple layers of additional production that propel the track forward with power and intensity. A huge bassline groove and shimmering arpeggio create a progressive house gem that sparkles through intermittent vocal phrases, rapid-fire hats and chest-thumping kick. The result is a track that builds to epic proportions with the arrival of a new string section in the latter stages.

An Argentinean artist of considerable repute, Matias Chilano has been at the vanguard of the progressive house movement for over a decade with his instantly recognisable deep and textured sound palette. Able to point to almost 400 production credits to back up his undoubted talent and credentials, early work for LuPS Records has subsequently seen a raft of remix and original work signed to the likes of Global Underground, Balkan Connection and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music. A pair of remixes for Proton Music represent Chilano's contribution to the label thus far as a third now lights up "Zen State" with a gloriously evocative offering full of trademark atmosphere, white-noise effects and sumptuous synth lines. A mesmerising percussive line provides dance-floor character as a smooth bassline progression turns Sellares' original track into a thing of beauty. A collage of pulsating synth lines add further club-friendly dynamism in a remix that illustrates the Argentinean's talent and technique.

Perry left the scene years ago to raisea family. Chris continued and has had great success with his last duo Mariner + Domingo. After over a decade, Perry dusted off his gear and rejoined his brother to start writing again.
