As an experimental practice with given instrumentation made of guitars, piano, and transverse flute melted with electronic processing, ‘Towards the Unknown’ from ambient artist and composer Demetrio Cecchitelli evokes vast arrays of deep listening and active sound creations.

A miscellaneous of various recordings from 2017 to late 2023, little or extended pieces in which a loosely inspired attitude from post-rock and new-folk mixed with contemporary and electroacoustic music merge together.

Drone music in its instrumental version, as a soundtrack of a journey into nowhere lands or spiritual, now ancient views - today the record signs a new development for the promising Italian musician.

Demetrio Cecchitelli (1997) is a composer and musician mainly active in the field of electronic and electroacoustic music. Released on Healing Sound Propagandist, Whitelabrecs, Sounds Against Humanity, among others. He has collaborated with theatre company Motus and the director Cecilia Lentini.

DIRTY GLASSEZ is all about diversity of genres... His experiments with dusty, deconstructed sound coexist with brooding harmonies and syncopated rhythms, clearly influenced by the UK underground culture. Combining ambient electronica with elements from garage, breakbeat and techno, DIRTY GLASSEZ's music hits the listener with pure emotions, dominated by melancholy. DIRTY GLASSEZ surfaced on System 108 via Kovyazin D's ‘Acid Is Your Friend’ compilation with the track 'IN MY MIND'. His original sound evolved further in to the dancefloor direction with 'Basic Instincts’ EP, where the artist's creative search did not stop and headed exploring ambient and post-dubstep.

Now, with his debut album called 'Neverbeen', DIRTY GLASSEZ evokes feelings of nostalgia — nostalgia for lives never lived: places never seen, people never known, houses never lived in. The sounds in the tracks scatter and reassemble, keeping the picture blurry, but soon details become sharp. With recognition comes happiness. Music for night walks, while peering into other people's windows.

About the album:

This album, which I have been composing and working on for the past two years, consists of 7 instrumental tracks and is 40 minutes long.

The overall genre of this album is Electronica, and the synthesizer has been the main component.

This is the first time I am releasing an album that is primarily composed with synthesizers.

This album was made in moments of cold, homesickness, and feeling lost,
In a state of heavy contrast with the surrounding environment and not belonging. Feeling not related, even rage and hate.

In seeing constant greys, though the eyes full of colorful remembrances.
Tangled with the determinism of speed, in conflict with my need for slowness.
It observation, silence, contemplation, and healing.

In trains, images of buildings and the movement of vertical lines.
In nightly forests and cycling,
In the numb gaze at the moon from my window.
And in catching the narrowest glimmer of light, hope, belief, continuing, and life.

(سیکوئنسز به معنی: توالی‌ ها، دنباله‌ها، ترتیب، تسلسل، و سکانس‌ها است)


توضیحات آلبوم:

این آلبوم متشکل از ۷ قطعه و به طول ۴۰ دقیقه ست، که در طی دو سال گذشته اون‌هارو ساختم.

سبک موسیقی این آلبوم به صورت کلی «الکترونیکا» است و سازِ سینت‌سایزر به عنوان سازِ اصلی و غالبِ این قطعات استفاده شده.

این اولین باره که با محوریت سینت‌سایزر آلبومی ساختم و پخش می‌کنم.

این آهنگ‌ها در سرما، دلتنگی و گم گشتگی ساخته شدند.
در وضعیتِ پر رنگِ تضاد با محیط اطراف، عدم تعلق و حتی خشم و نفرت.
در دیدن خاکستری های مدام از پس یادآوری های رنگین من،
گرفتارِ جبرِ سرعت، در تقابل با طمنای آهستگی در من،
در مشاهده گری، سکوت، تعمق و درمان‌گری،
در قطارها و تصاویر ساختمان ها و حرکاتِ خطوطِ عمودی شهر،
در جنگل های شبانه و دوچرخه سواری،
در کرختیِ خیرگیِ نگاه به تصویر ماه از پنجره اتاقم،
و در استفاده از کوچک ترین کورسوی نور، امید، باور، ادامه دادن و زندگی.

Sequences

The Scrapbook album consists of 24 thematic sound sketches. The composition is based on superimposing different sound layers on top of each other, as in scrapbooking. The author used various samples from old new-age cassettes and vinyl records, tape loops, field recordings, various noises, guitars, and piano.

1. Good Morning. Every day is a new life.

2. Birds of Nevada. By the sound of the birds, you will know that you are not at home.

3. Light Rail. You recognize life when you see movement.

4. Cyclone. That feeling when a hurricane rages a hundred miles away, and an unsettling wind and rain hit your window.

5. Period I. Listening to the water.

6. Gesture. Body language speaks volumes about what words leave unsaid.

7. Noh. We are actors in the theatre of life, having forgotten who we truly are.

8. Magic Night. Magic is an unknown science.

9. Differentiation of Feelings. To cope with emotions, you must first understand what you feel.

10. Period II. Water is time.

11. Ceremony. Life is made up of rituals. But any ritual loses its meaning when its essence is forgotten.

12. Portrait of the Moon. The image of the Moon represents peace and tranquility.

13. The Sands of Time. Time is the most irresistible force in the universe.

14. Initiation. Only a pure devotee of the Lord can give the Mantra of liberation.

15. Period III. Water is Wisdom.

16. Fata Morgana. The most significant difference between people is how deeply they are immersed in illusions.

17. Miniature Lamps. You can be a small lamp, shining even when the Sun of Truth is hidden.

18. Fire Walk with Me. Sometimes it gets scary, but keep holding the torch of Truth.

19. Pollination. Material nature is God's smile.

20. Period IV. Water Cleanses.

21. Preparing to Leave. Without renunciation, there is no freedom.

22. Pocket Watch. Live in harmony with time.

23. Terminal. Don't get too comfortable in this world; it's just a brief stopover.

24. Good Night. Every night is a little death.

For fans of SOTL's earlier minimal drone era. This Lost recording from 1997 of a remix of Stars of the Lid's Twin Peaks Episide # 30 Part 1, by James Plotkin. (Commissioned for $100USD)During this particular moment, the glory days of pre-file sharing, we had been considering and gathering remixes via the post for a potential release but as many things go in the world of Lid, the idea became a bit stale. Mostly due to our own boredom. We are not sure if this thing is of any decent quality, but if you listen at low levels then the effect could possibly lead to a good nap at the very least....

Upon rediscovery, we fell in love with these tender recordings and offered the 3 short tape movements up for remix.
