This is the extended version of my track "Chronicles of the Wayfarer".

Story:

Wanderlust is only curable by travelling. This is the story of a wayfarer ever so curious to explore the world. From deep forests to rough coasts, from lonely deserts to lively villages, from lush hills to dramatic mountains.

Track Description:

Chronicles of the Wayfarer is musically set in the ambient genre. It is mainly orchestral with lush string accompaniment and some soloistic melodies played by oboe und horn. Some evolving synth pads and high pulses emphasize the vibe. A hopefully recognizable theme overarches the piece although this was not my first goal. The main objective was to create atmosphere, mostly longing and sad.

Chronicles of the Wayfarer (Extended)

After a month of vocal practise and studying music production, I definitely feel like I've improved since End of an Era but still have a long way to go. I'm still getting the hang of mixing but mastering is still something I need to study. Regardless I felt satisfied enough to release the song so I can move on to other projects.

I wrote this song late last year. It's a bit of a difficult one to fully explain. The lyrics are a bit messy but kind of make sense in my head. It's based on the emotions that come from the anticipation of someone who's going to leave you who you don't have the strength to leave yourself.

In fantasy literature, the world is clear, black or white :-) the good guys go to the dark tower, defeat evil and flowers grow everywhere again. It would be nice if it were that simple ;-)

Another snippet from Caligo Paean, darker in tone to evoke the power Of Caligo, who wasn't just in charge of mist but ruled the domain of chaos. 

Caligo Paean is a 1 hour long sound piece installed on river front property in the town of Franklin, Tasmania as part of the exhibition "When The Fog Clears". It formed part of the Ten Days on The Island Festival March 2025.
The work was installed in several locations across the property including a stack of subs under an old bus, in the main exhibition space and in an abandoned shed some 40 metres from the main area . The speakers were 'tuned' quite differently depending on their location and the sound was not delay corrected with the result of each mini-installation merging with each other in odd sonic ways - kind of calling the listener from one spot to another. The the work features field recordings, percussion, piano, bass guitar and Intonarumori as well as this special one off choir : )

Caligo is the Ancient goddess of Chaos. Born of the fog she controls the darkness, dwells in the void and is as old as the primordial matter that created the universe. This work is a tribute to the goddess as she continues to influence our lives and, in the case of this installation, the site and concept informing the show.

Every day, the mists of the Huon Valley perform a seductive dance, gently obscuring and revealing contours of the fertile land and waters. Situated in The Watershed Franklin, When The Fog Clears features six artists from lutruwita / Tasmania exploring the region’s iconic mists through a variety of mediums including installation, sculpture, illustration, sound, and video.

Developed exclusively for Franklin, this exhibit extends from the waterfront itself into the chambers, kilns, and rafters of the shed, inviting visitors to consider fog as an atmosphere that can cloak us in unexpected ways.

Not everyone is on holiday, even in the heat of summer. Some still work while the city falls silent, stretched under a long, empty day. I can’t tell if the man expects something to happen; to me, it feels like nothing will happen today either. Anyway, everything's good.

This is the third in a series of eight easy, acoustic, rather short, and deliberately inconclusive tracks, assembled by combining new ideas with reworked older material, adding parts and sounds along the way.
