"Fire on the Mountain" began out of a listening to the thunderstorms that worked their way through the Pisgah National Forest here in western North Carolina.  The sound of thunder would swell and resound through the mountains first 'close to home,' then in far, fading rumbles. When you're outside communing with them, a feeling of awe naturally arises. 

Awe and Wonder may be our greatest hope in times like these. I'm certain this piece was the result of my own attempts to work through the under and overcurrents of madness that seems to rear up at odd times in our world. 

This is an attempt to dance through it at varying tempos.

"Fire On The Mountain"

Vampire's Kiss is a musical version of the standard campy vampire story. Towards the end the victim receives the vampire's kiss and is transported into the netherworld between life and death... The netherworld ending is rendered with the first moog guitar prototype.

This isn't the final version of Vampire's Kiss. It is my starting point - just clearly played on a nylon stringed guitar to get the arrangement and melody across.  Close to the end I bring in some early Moog Guitar.
 
Every Halloween I tell myself next Halloween I'll have this one out and being heard.   I had intended to have it completed this October, but it is still a work in progress. I do have some great tracks already recorded for this one -- I just can't be finishing and mastering music right now when 100 Vo-96s are being readied for our customers.  By next Halloween I'll have the dressed up version of Vampire's Kiss to present.  But I thought, what is with this obsession to finish everything to death?  So here is the raw, not-yet-orchestrated starting point of the Vampire's Kiss...
