'Op een eiland' is a multi-sensorial dinner program by Narges Mohammadi, taking place on the occasion of the end of her working period at Waterwerken, Buitenplaats Brienenoord. In addition to the dinner program she createda new artwork that will remain a part of the island Brienenoord.  

The dishes, made by cook Yannik Güldner, are inspired by the texts of the acclaimed writers and artists Sahar Shirzad, Tina Farifteh, Mina Etemad, Saba Askary, and Melisa Can.  

Throughout the dinner program, percussionist Christian Smith will perform a combination of live and recorded sounds inspired by the island, the texts, and the dishes.  

Reflecting on being land-or waterless, the dinner will be prepared without the use of water (except for washing).

This 'mixtape' is comprised of the 5 interactions I had with the texts of the artists and 5 the interludes paired with the  5 courses prepared by Yannik Güldener.  Each interaction is composed and improvised by myself, while the interludes are selections of other artists work whom I respect and have influenced my own practice. Please note interlude titles are sourced from the names of Yannik's dishes in the track listing.

This mix/podcast/archival document is a digital replica of our shared experience the evening of September 28th on a small island under a highway in Rotterdam. 

Thank you to Narges, Yannik, Waterwerken, Buitenplaats Brienenoord, all of the 5 artists for their beautiful texts, and all the lovely guests.  I'm very grateful for the opportunity to have made music for us and shared this experience with you all.
