I wanted a calm beautiful sound when going to the Abyss. No throatlike
 sound. 
You hear a hornlike signal.The engines work smooth and are lightly going. Pride and joy is all around some kind of spirit of departure and optimism. Clear cool but crystal waters all around. It is THE DAY everybody dreamed of for months. Today they go to the almost unknown. A once in a life adventure.
They go to the  Very Deep - the so called Abyss.The passengers feel safe in their submarine, because they have strengthend the mantel and the overall security sytem. They are so proud of those submarines.A labor of love.  Allthough they know it`s a risky adventure, they are so curious not angry at all . Even a heartbeat is pretty loud in that situation.
Seeing  alienlike animals.They see them in pairs or more  - very beautiful (clunkering  slightly asynchron sound ). All are banned by these luminated out of earth beings. Unique animals, unique pictures. All are happy about what they have seen.  All is fine. Everyting is flowing, dreamy and lightweight, allthough it is dark, cold dangerous, hellike outside. The yellow submarine seems to be a homeplace for the passengers  in this unknown world. The machines work like those undestroyable ones, very very smooth, with that special sound.The sonar works well.But something is wrong. But what went wrong? They  don`t know what. But they know it someway. There is it- water is coming in.They have to go up-(  They have forgotten their trusty Beatles music. They have a quarrel about it. They forget about their main intentions, so they didn`t have a close look at their instruments. These say - go down more slowly. But they are a bit to fast, so this  was a bit to much for the trusty overhauled Yellow Submarine. )A tiny crack in ithe bull`s eye.
They are so deep and kilometers away from the surface. From the beauty of the deep to chaos in a second. Nobody really knows what to do, but they have functioning instincts. Exception someone
 who can fix it provisionally, temporary with someting simple (chewing gum, tape or pressing a screwdriver into the crack, I don`t know- but it works. And the engines of theYELLOW SUBMARINE  take them faster than every other divingboat  to the safe surface. For the wounds and lumps there is a  coolpack- find it in the picture.  End of the story....

Morning dew

This song is dedicated to my gran Phyllis Tewson whose husband died in his fifties. She lived in the same house on her own until she couldn’t look after herself in her late eighties. She was an inspiration to me and she never complained about her lot. Always took an interest in young people and was enthusiastic about all the crap that I shared with her in spite of my naivety. I think about her a lot.

Keith was dabbling with a small keyboard. A little melody flowed.  It all flowed from there. Sometimes the simple beginnings inspire some deep thoughts. Choices always intrigue me - variations on the theme of "should I stay or should I go?" How do you weigh that decision in a relationship? The answer is in the title - when you come to the uncomfortable awareness that there is nothing special to keep you, so Nothing Special is left behind.

It's pretty lonely out here toiling over every sound wave and grubby plugin. One day I hope to get some collaborations going and a far off dream is to re awaken all these tracks in a live environment with a live band and maybe even a live audience. For now the dream keeps me going. Thanks for listening.

I'm trying to use as much real instrumentation as possible: a Taylor and a Norman acoustic guitars, a Fender Strat Roadhouse that goes out of tune if I even look at it, a cheap Vintage mandolin that hurts to play and listen to, an 80 year old zither banjo that screams 'I was never destined for this' and a borrowed Aria Pro II bass that a friend can can never be bothered to take home on the bus. Synths are a plasticky Roland FA06 and a fun but dumb Korg minilogue. Throw in some Native Instruments software primarily for smoochy piano and strings, a £15 melodica full of tramp spit, some harps in impossible tunings, and a box of percussion and assorted prehistoric flints (are you really still reading this??). 

All recorded on Logic Pro X on an ancient iMac that is going to explode any minute and take my entire oeuvre with it. And most likely burn the house down.
