EPM Podcast 165 comes from house, techno and electronic DJ / producer Eluize. Born and raised in Adelaide, Australia she has spent much of the last decade based in Berlin touring Europe. Her own releases have graced such esteemed labels as Craigie Knowes, Lost Palms, Let’s Play House, Of Paradise, XLR8R+ and her own imprints Bermuda Series and Night Tide which has just released her new ‘Fast Friends’ EP. In 2020 Eluize started a coaching initiative supporting Womxn and Non-binary people in electronic music production, performance and label management and has guest lectured, been on panels and created content for SAE, Ableton, Beatport, EMC Sydney, and Funkhaus Berlin. Having DJed the world over she now steps into the EPM Podcast hot seat where her bold, fluid and dynamic mixing brings together the likes of Deniro, Eira Haul, Thermo Statik, Aldonna, Hardfloor, Hiver, Kiara Scuro & Timothy Clerkin and more into a playful and energetic set.

Eluize’s debut album ‘Confide’ surfaced on Craigie Knowes in 2019, flowing between dance floor hypnotics and melodies that throw you out to drift in a lonely cosmic ocean. In 2020 her sophomore LP ‘Gone’ appeared, capturing the full-spectrum of Eluize's mastery in song-writing, composition and production in all of its shimmering glory. Her take on synthesis, drum-programming, mixing and original vocals and lyrics take you by the hand and lead you into a rich garden of colour and sound.

Eluize’s live show is fluid and transportive, encapsulating the escapism of her music and delivering it via a tight selection of synths, drum machines, her intimate vocals and of course lashings of acid. Each setlist is improvised to twist and turn through her array of genres from expansive melodic trysts for day-lit open airs to heavy hitting dance workouts for fog laden floors.

Founded by DJ and producer Discrete Circuit in 2012, AWAY was born in Berlin out of a purist desire to establish a party for timeless house and techno music. In the early days, AWAY moved from multiple in- and outdoor venues to showcases across Europe to ultimately finding a stable home base at the About Blank club in 2015. Quickly they earned a reputation as a must-attend event series without losing its underground credibility. The AWAY crew did not shy away from booking many veterans and legends of the genre, some of whom are now on the compilation "AWAY 10 Years".

Tandav is a high energy track based on a variation of Sarang raga. With Pawas’ in-depth knowledge of both Indian classical percussion and electronic music….. This track combines multiple rhythmic layers manifesting in one exhilarating track that is filled with polyrhythmic cadence and interludes.

About Non Solo:
Non Solo is a collaboration that merges the depth of Indian classical music with the rhythms of house and electronica.

A tale of two Indians recorded in Cologne, Stockholm & Berlin.

Friends from more than two decades, these gentlemen decided to bring together their knowledge of music at Anurag's apartment in Stockholm back in 2008. Anurag’s life journey took him to Stockholm, Sweden and Pawas’ culminated in Berlin, Germany; both cities a cultural and a musical powerhouse in their own right.  Anurag, a professionally trained Flautist (bamboo Flute or “Bansuri”) in the traditional Hindustani Classical Music and Pawas, someone who has been exploring the realms of electronic music since 1997 as a DJ  and releasing records under different monikers since 2007 decided to bring in their forces on a gloomy Stockholm afternoon. 

You may ask, why Non Solo? Well, for obvious reasons! 

In traditional Indian classical music you are trained as a soloist, mastering a single instrument and each instrumentalist has a deep understanding of the common syntax and rules of engagement that produce some brilliant duets. Both Anurag and Pawas have been pursuing their solo music careers and mastering their craft. However, ‘Non solo’ brought these two (soloists) together to collaborate on something that has not been done before in this way so two soloists coming together and forming NON SOLO.

It all started over a “Fika” which translates to “ a concept, a state of mind, an attitude and an important part of Swedish culture. Many Swedes consider that it is almost essential to make time for fika every day. It means making time for friends and colleagues to share a cup of coffee (or tea) and a little something to eat” in Anurag’s favourite Cafe, not to forget his exquisite palette for Coffee. After a short brainstorming on how to create something new and fresh without it being too cliched and with the help of impeccably roasted coffee beans that were freshly brewed, the men decided to jam it out to see where this goes. The first attempt resulted in the second track on the record “Svar” which means “note or tone” which was a one take track. Motivated and excited, they both decided to continue working on this project. 

A few months later Anurag visited Pawas' previous Studio in Cologne to record, where Sarang, Tandav and Bhoop were born. Even though the creation had happened, they felt it wasn't the right time to put it out there just yet. However, time flew by and after almost 14 years of waiting, the men came back to what they had created and decided it was now the time to release it.

This totally improvised Live Stems Mix of Gino Soccio's iconic track "Dancer" was performed during a Twitch stream on March 19, 2022 using Traktor DJ Studio and a Native Instruments D2 controller.

It has the sort of hypnotic flow that feels like a perfect fit for getting 'lost in sound' at an after-hours party in a dark room full of sweaty bodies.

A "New, powerful take on classic Detroit techno" is how Clone Records described his debut EP Tiger Snake on Ripperton’s label Perspectiv. That was back in 2008 –  already a decade after playing constantly as a live act and DJ in Australia. Drawing on the original sounds from Detroit and Chicago, he forged his own way to present house and techno music downunder. Vance cut his teeth playing with legendary figures of electronic music and it continues to rub off to this day in his adopted home of Berlin. Current projects like “Away Soundsystem” are testament to that.
Career highlights include being invited by Derrick May to collaborate on a remix project for a movie in Carl Craig’s Detroit studio. His collaboration with Discrete Circuit in Berlin on own imprint Away Music was remixed by Joe Claussell and Mr. Ties. (Dixon a big fan of Joe’s dub). 
Bandcamp listed them as one of the labels keeping Berlin Techno fresh and described it as music that “ brims over with rugged machine grooves and serious soul.” The same could be said of Vance’s musical aesthetic as a DJ and live act. He regularly throws down a mixed bag 4+ hour journey at their Berlin parties with guests like Moodymann, Omar S and Move D. His latest project H4L on new sister imprint “Astray” is described by Hardwax as “stomping, direct,
pure, flawless Techno.” Other collaborators and remixers have included Aril Brikha (Art of Vengeance), Kirk Degiorgio (Haul), Etienne Jaumet (Versatile) and his music has appeared on compilations from Carl Cox (Global Underground) and Argy.
