The fast up and coming Brazilian DJ & producer Bárbara Boeing steps up for our latest Phonica mix dedicated to the gates of heaven. If you have not heard of Bárbara yet, fear not, you will; Having just dropped her killer debut release on Toy Tonics in May and already having smashed sets out for the likes of Dekmantel Selectors, Boiler Room and Permanent Vacation we can clearly see this is nothing but an up hill trajectory for the talent. For this set Bárbara is bringing us to the day party, the closing of the Summer set if you will. Perfectly built up with a a solid mixture of taste and fun. This is one to get on before you go out but also one for a couple of wines in the park bidding fairwell to the Sun for another year. We chat to Bárbara about the mix, her approach to DJing and what she has coming up next:

""A love letter to the warm up set""
This mix is dedicated to the warm up set, it's a set that many djs did for years had to prove themselves as the warm up dj and eventually move up the ranks to a closing set and finally one day the peak slot. If you were / are lucky enough to be a resident dj you know what i'm talking about . It really educated me on being a dj and forced me to learn so many styles of music. It also taught me about "edging" , yes edging. How to bring it up and bring it down and trusting a crowd would follow the ride and take a few wrong or right swift left turns....  because let's be honest if you don't clear the dance floor every now then ya not doing it right. haha This set was recorded in Naarm, 28/9/23 at Subclub and it was a pleasure to start the night , it brought many memories of always being the warm up dj  , Boney days ,  how much I love it and how the art of the warm up set is sometimes lost in the modern day clubbing. It will always be the most important set of the night because it sets the tone for the rest of the night and you get to really play some amazing music and watch the night unfold right in front of you. Here's to the pure ecstasy of watching people dance to slow jams.

The long set time allows us to play long tracks, not shying away from those 8-12min tracks, moving through emotions & genres like there are no boundaries🚂
