DJ Koze's 2013 album opus Amygdala has continued to bewitch all who encounter it since its release. Tipped as his own personal Sgt. Pepper, the sublime long-player revealed a fully-realised and personal body of work, complete with a classic songwriting at its core, House in its heart, and veins coursing with psychedelic color. La Duquesa' was the album's dreamy single standout, a journey into deep, tropical ecstasy. XTC' begins in the same spirit, and captures the all the blissful allusions of its name, but its initial gentility belies the deep intensity to come. Floating pads glow with celestial ambience as a kick drum is gradually coaxed into solid form, and the introduction of spoken text begins the second act. Many people are experimenting with the drug Ecstasy,' it says, ...is the drug like the lie and meditation the truth Or am I missing something that could really help me". XTC' then transforms: sweetly imploring tones become demanding, gentle gradients between chords turn hard-edged, and sharp hi-hats cut through the haze. Complete with Koze's signature percussive quirks, it drives towards the track's final pay off: an undeniable, all-consuming, irresistible high. Knee On Belly' recalls Koze at his most tongue-in-cheek and overt, it is bright, bold and literally brassy, using cut-up horns of all shapes and sizes to patchwork together his own unique arrangement. With the highs and mid ranges accounted for, Koze adds in a swollen, thrumming bass line to mix to bring this floor-filler to life. Knee on Belly' recalls a raw, filtered and funky approach to groove, with a nod to disco house and the art of artful sampling, as it orbits between its own neon highs and simmering lows.

One of most ambitious projects from Lips & Rhythm Records to date, Jupiter Liberation Front is both a concept album and a collective with a mission. Formed on a rooftop in Barcelona in the summer of 2015, the group brings together a unique squad of producers, DJs and musicians from the far reaches of planet Earth. Jupiter Liberation Front includes label big bosses, the Birds Of Rhythm duo, the long overdue debut of Barcelona’s Christian Len and two of Ibiza’s best- kept secrets (until now) Camilo Miranda and Benicio P. 
This cosmic musical union has produced a sun-soaked EP about a journey to the mysterious gas planet. From the dreamy, Balearic Thalassa to a taste of boogie funk on Stranded in Jupiter and an exotic lounge vibe on Gardens of Jupiter, the record is a fusion of many warm sounds that shape a theme best described as islands in space. This limited-vinyl release from Lips & Rhythm Records showcases the rising talent of DJ/journalist Christian Len as a producer with Papadupau ( 50% of the band ZA!), a fixture on the Barcelona music scene for a decade and now resident DJ of some of the most iconic  beach clubs in Ibiza as Blue Marlin Ibiza. In addition to this Len hosts a growing monthly party called Homies, house parties with a balearic state of mind . 
As DJ both Camilo Miranda ( resident DJ of Ibiza Sol House ) and Benicio P. have been known to throw weeklong parties in Ibiza and seem to apply this same method of madness in the studio, where they’ve been conjuring up magic on a Juno 106. Deep knowledge of Balearic secrets and off-world funk were heavily applied while crafting this record. 
Written in the quiet moments of the winter on Ibiza, in Barcelona and on the California coast, this is a smooth, summer gem, fit for any outdoor gathering, whether beneath the rays of the sun or in the glow of moonlight. So come along as we take flight with the sounds of Jupiter Liberation Front...

My plan was to not remix, but re-play the song in a full live setting, as if in 1975 Bowie recorded the original and then flew to Brooklyn (or even Jamaica) to cut another take with my players. Everything was recorded 100% analog to tape. All on equipment that was available before 1975. My approach was to take influence of the Jamaican musicians (and recording styles) of the mid-seventies, and their infatuation with American Soul music. If you dig it, that would be great. Knowing that BOWIE digs it, I’m over the moon.

Christian Len has become one of the musical ambassadors of the Balearic sound of the last decade. Born and raised in Barcelona, Len began his DJ career playing at venues such as BeCool, Apolo or Razzmatazz and directing the radio stations of Sonar and Primavera Sound. In 2010 he moved to Ibiza in an unexpected script twist and there he discovered the most genuine and unknown face of the White Island making a step forward on the decks from then on.  Always involved in the island stations he was Ibiza Sonica coordinator and Openlab music director. As a DJ he has been a resident in iconic places such as Kumharas, Hostal La Torre, Blue Marlin or the legendary Pikes Hotel, home to his own party, Homies, since 2015. He has just published “Balearic: Oral History of Club Culture in Ibiza” a book that tells the story of the "magical" island (one of the best music books of 2020 according to Pitchfork).  And that Balearic state of mind is always present in his sets projecting the musical and cultural idiosyncrasy of Ibiza.
