Johnny Da Cruz was born in São Paulo and during his first 10 years as a dj collected residences in most of the best clubs of the city like D-Edge and Vegas, besides managing his party-label Voyage, one of the first parties focused only in Downtempo and Deep House in the biggest city of South America. Starting his career as a producer in 2017, Johnny recently moved to Berlin where he started his new label EKORD and is also part of the URSL crew which released his first EP ‘Cut Me’. His second EP ‘Suspicious’ reached Beatport Top 14 on the Melodic Techno chart in 2019. In the last 3 years he's been playing frequently in clubs and festivals like Sisyphos, Kater Blau, Wilden Renate, Garbicz Festival, Flex Club (Viena), Elefant (Oslo), Südpol (Hamburg), Waagenbau (Hamburg), Climax (Stuttgart), Palais (Munique), Plano B (Porto), Boa (Geneve), Cafe del Mar (Tarifa) and many more.

For our 15th release, we are delighted to welcome the return of Trilucid to Perfecto Black, this time in collaboration with Alex Collings. The result is 2 stunning progressive tracks in the form of Ventura and Blame.

Ventura is a sublime piece of deep prog, a warm, dark pad bass line, haunting arps, complimented by a lush main riff, constantly evolving and progressing to it’s epic climax. 

Blame grabs you from the off, a hypnotic, driving bassline and percussion giving the track a superb groove and pace. It builds to the breakdown where the real magic happens. The huge pad bass, haunting vocals, main riff all come together to create a moment of genius. 

Both tracks fit the Perfecto Black ethos perfectly and were signed without hesitation!

"Following the success of his "One Side of the Underground" series, Rick Pier O'Neil now presents Vol. 3 with new original tracks plus remixes from UK and Argentinean industry icons.

An artist with a 24-carat reputation within the underground dance industry, Rick Pier O'Neil follows on from where he left off in "Vol. 2". "Travel Meet" sees a collaboration with French artist Sonov as a ticking percussive groove and grooved bassline build alongside a hypnotic arpeggio. Evolving elegantly, white-noise swirls and granular pads add to the sonic architecture alongside new melodic motifs in the second half. "Manipulation" sees O'Neil join forces with Ukrainian artist Serge Landar in a mesmerising work that revels in sustained bassline prowess. A shaker-fuelled percussive framework supplies dancefloor character and a rich array of counterpoint melodies play off each other as arpeggios and pads combine in complex stratified layers. The third original offering is a solo affair that finds O'Neil showcasing his production skills through "Fair Trade". A glorious rhythmic and bass groove provides energy throughout as trademark textured pads and white-noise swirls ripple back and forth across the stereo soundstage. Delayed analogue motifs make an appearance at the breakdown that bridges the darker bass and percussion-oriented movements either side. The result is another classy piece.

There are few more iconic names in the underground dance industry than, Nick Muir. As one half of the Bedrock duo with John Digweed and a double century of appearances on the latter's Bedrock imprint, Muir is as relevant today as he was during his legendary work in the late 90s. Also finding his name allied to the likes of Vapour Recordings, Perspectives Digital and Watergate, Muir's DJ career has seen him perform across the globe on a regular basis. Making his Proton Music debut, the Nick Muir remix of "Tribute" is a gloriously dynamic affair that takes the central bassline of the original and transforms takes it on storming journey alongside a glorious array of arps, beautifully textured pads and rich melodic motifs. The addition of a club-friendly beat and groove-laden percussion is sure to fill dancefloors the world over.

One Side of the Underground, Vol. 3

PREMIERE: Rick Pier O'Neil - Tribute (Nick Muir Remix) [Proton Music]

Cid Inc's Replug Records begins the new year by welcoming DJ Zombi to the label for his debut single. Based in Tel Aviv, the Israeli artist has been a fixture of the electronic underground for over a decade. Whether operating as one half of the famed crossover act Weekend Heroes, or under his solo moniker of DJ Zombi, Eli Baltsan is well travelled, having curated music for the world's premiere festivals and trendiest venues. With a renewed focus on his solo productions in recent years, DJ Zombi has found a home on Guy J's Armadillo Records, Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records, Beatfreak Recordings, Chapter 24 and his own Beat Boutique imprint. Now making his much anticipated Replug debut, DJ Zombi presents ‘Octopus' alongside a remix from Cid Inc & Orsen. 

DJ Zombi is an artist who has worn many stylistic hats over the last two years, compiling a discography that features a clever amalgamation of genres. With ‘Octopus' he takes a deeper more melodic approach, one which has already been winning over crowds during his sets in recent months. Anchored by a warm, full bodied groove, its rhythmic core comes up quickly, with layers of exotic drums carrying a buoyant cadence. Subtle shades and hopeful tones coverage as the narrative evolves, before rising atmospheres and radiant chord stabs unite during a grandiose break. Tense yet exhilarating, a drummy build marries waves of white noise during a colossal crescendo, as the groove drops for an emotive, arp driven finale.

Rounding out the release and providing the lone interpretation of ‘Octopus' is Cid Inc & Orsen. Based in Finland and Austria respectively, 2019 proved to be a fruitful year for both artists. Henri Hurtig aka Cid Inc. once again delivered one of progressive music's finest moments with the March release of ‘Via Karelia'. Similarly, Dan Baseley aka Orsen won the hearts of the genre's tastemakers with the November offering ‘Falling In'. Having commemorated the label's ten-year anniversary with their first ever joint production in October, Cid Inc and Orsen now build on that creative synergy with an inspired take on ‘Octopus'. The duo expands on the smooth, emotive qualities of the original with a tougher more peak time approach. Possessing a dramatic undercurrent, it's punchy kicks and fiery percussion create waves of energy as the first act evolves. The main arp adds nicely to it's hypnotic drive, gradually opening up against a backdrop of hopeful pads, as the breakdown reaches a euphoric peak, before shifting energy into a smooth yet exhilarating conclusion. A gorgeous rendition from the Replug bosses which caps off a hugely successful label debut from DJ Zombi.

Christian Monique is a DJ and producer born in Venice, Italy. His sound is progressive house, dark progressive and progressive trance. The biggest influences of Christian Monique are Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Sasha, John Digweed and Marcelo Vasami for their unique and original styles.

He has more than 10 years of DJ-ing experience in Italy. In 2018, Christian has played at a big event in his town called, "Notte Bianca". The same year, he has played by the first time in Budapest (Hungary) at the Akvarium Klub with Guy Mantzur. 

Christian appeared on labels such as The Soundgarden, Bonzai Progressive, Black Hole Recordings, Pure Trance, Balkan Connection, Balkan Connection South America, White Soho, Massive Harmony Records, DAR Label, Stellar Fountain, 3rd Avenue, Transpecta, Vesta Records and many more. 
His music has the support of great artists such as Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Solarstone, Airwave, Ruben De Ronde, Mariano Mellino, Aly & Fila, Gai Barone, Denis A among others.
Christian Monique, is actually host on two radio shows. Since January 2018, every 3rd Friday goes on air “Seventeen” on Frisky Radio. Since January 2019, every 4th Saturday of the month, "Upside Down" is broadcast on Progressive Beats.

Nowadays, he is composing new productions and remixes for several record labels.
