Its been more than six months since I’ve had the last chance to play some music in front of a crowd. I tried to put all of my hope, my love & dedication as well as my anger into this DJ mix. This journey reflects what I would be playing in the morning hours at a club such as KaterBlau and some melancholic-melodic moments to just make you fly away. Just received the recording of this moment from the summer and in the midst of a very dynamic and energetic touring season, this is probably the set I felt most in flow with, and yet the most intimate of all, at home in the region of Mattawinie.

Now a yearly tradition, our close group of friends has been co-creating an estival celebration in the North of Québec in a village called St-Zénon. This gathering evolved so much over the years, strengthening friendships and an inspiring sense of community, healing, co-creation, love and overall total fun. 

I had the chance to play on the patio of the wooden cabin on the Friday afternoon, over looking the Boréal forest. As Pachamama was dancing with us, rain, clouds, sun and stars were part of the journey while I was soundtracking the sunset with some of my favourite humans. 

As I didn't share any sets in the recent months, I feel this could capture really well summer 2023 for me, and hopefully, for you as well!

Grateful for all the Zénon family for co-creating this space and for David, Vincent & Vincent for gifting me the chance to play music in this special setting.  Thanks to my love Ashlee for the cover picture. 

I dedicate this set to friendship, that special family we choose, and that chooses us back.

Kora is the musical project of Mikael B Robillard, a planet Earth citizen with his family tree rooted in Québec, Canada. From childhood tunes with Grandma to co-founding the Saisons Musique label & collective, Mikael's journey is a testament to music's power to unite. Happy New Year everyone! 

2019 is necessarily going to result in some new beginnings in my life and hopefully some positive changes and evolutions for us all.

In line with my own growth, I wanted to get back to my roots of digging really deep to put together a mix that I think is dreamy, ethereal, with haunting vocals and subtle but groovy basslines.

Also, after 3 weeks of watching updates from our dear friends traveling from Vietnam to Mexico I couldn’t keep it together without sharing something with everyone!

CHAPTER II

B L A C K O U T. No sound, no light, it is total darkness on the dance floor, a complete power outage. I immediately tell myself it must be the breaker or generator. The technician appears and he start troubleshooting.

I grab my african shaker and play a little rhythm to keep people entertained. My loyal trooper friends in the DJ booth start humming a song to mask the silence.

Four, five, six minutes pass by, but it feels like an eternity. People from the crowd are slowly walking away but the people who were the most in the flow remain on the dance floor, optimistic that we will solve the problem. We conclude that the powerbar where all the DJ gear is connected is causing the breaker to shut down, with too much water leaking on it during the storm. We quickly find a replacement, unplug, replug, and turn it on again. SUCCESS! All the lights are shining and the gear is back online again. 

Decision time–  in what direction will I take this set now? Do I start where I left off, or should I build a new set? Over 10 minutes of dead silence, the energy from the previous set is completely lost. The people on the dancefloor are patiently waiting for the next chapter and I trust them immensely. 

They are troopers, music lovers, as they remained with me through the downpour. This trust allows me to take my time to rebuild a new foundation for the rest of the journey. I go into my “Intro & acoustic”  folder again and choose a record. Chapter II begins. 

I truly felt grateful for Mother Nature playing her part in this adventure by joining us on the dancefloor. I was overwhelmed with a sense of being alive and present, and I was so grateful & thankful to share this experience with these beautiful people.

One hailing from the highest mountains, living in the wilderness and overcoming his struggles to survive, takes on an adventure with his elephants to dust off his past - reaching out for new ambitions.
The other originated from the deepest oceans, shifting dark, towering clouds to a glowing red, while the sky transforms into a fascinating palette of colors - changing each and every day.
Two branded individuals, crossing paths at 48° 0′ N, 8° 0′ O, merging into a project of an extraordinary sound, produced and shared for the people, who need it.
„Flowers on Monday“ is an unexpected gesture or a hug from a stranger - our small gift, when you’re going through a rough time.
Music with a soothing foundation and a magical finish - one that implements our appreciation for the little things, which imprint themselves in your heart and memory. Our life energy, in a world filled with tension and pressure.
Build out of electronica with organic roots, in form of live instruments and vocals, this project transfers it’s listeners to forgotten places, to let them dream away
