Born in Baltimore Maryland, DJ Gruv started from the humble beginnings of being a roadie for his uncle's mobile DJ unit.  Pitch control turntables wasn't a luxury back in the 80's. He was allowed limited sessions to practice and mix on his uncles' crafted Plexiglas unit which housed 2 turntables and a mixer.
He'd play everything funky like Earth, Wind n Fire to Micheal Jackson to get the crowd up. He felt great, making people happy by spinning music, and at the age of 14 that was a big deal.
Afterward, he would stay up late listening to radio stations as they played their various mixes from hip-hop to Baltimore house music. His lil' boombox was always on record and his cassette tapes were ever stacking and always on auto-reverse!
Eventually, he got 2 turntables and mixer and it's still a GREAT RIDE!
