'The back end of summer will see Italian DJ and producer Christopher Ledger inaugurate his own Hidden Folder label. A new and innovative project that will see Christopher enter uncharted territory embracing the versatility of his sound by releasing various strains of emotive house and progressive, entities which can also be found in his sets in recent times. The 001 release wanders through four distinct cuts from Ledger (one of those digital only), and in addition, there is a classy and uplifting remix from Danish producer C.K, a key member of the famous 2 Bit Crew. 

The opening track “Initialization” is constructed upon tight and punchy drum patterns, conversing perfectly with the elasticated bass line that drives the track. Melt in your mind synths glistening throughout. The aptly named “Lunar Empathy” enters the room next, an enormous energy is created by the Rome-based beatmaker. Dusty nostalgic drums and plucky bass change-ups make this a journey for the moments. 

“A Deeper Thought” leads the way on the B side, an intricately arranged quest, transcending its listener, but yet still moving the dance floor. A beautiful combination of depth and drive, a key component of Ledger’s current sound. C.K remixes “A Deeper Thought” steering it in a new direction, and inspirational house exploration looking to lift the vibe, oozing with feel-good energy. Sitting as a digital-only track is the irresistible groove, “Logical Form”, a playful and animated addition to the EP, which will sit comfortably within collections far and wide this year. 

Landing on wax with a limited press of 40 copies and on digital, Christopher embarks on an exciting new chapter of his career, further cementing himself as a stand-out producer of modern times, never shying away from straining the boundaries of his sound and implementing this all into his craft as a DJ.'

Friend began his journey as a music journalist in 2010 founding @psymedia before taking up DJing 2017. In 2018 he moved from South Africa to Vietnam and quickly established himself as a formidable DJ and promoter in the region. From sandy beaches down south to mystical caves up north, Friend played at many reputable clubs, festivals and tropical jungle raves such as Studio Adventure, Savage, Retreat (Equation), We Groove and Equinox Festival. His creatively curated 'This Is' club nights and prolific sunrise afterparties in Hanoi under his humble record label @magicboxengine also played a pivotal role in shaping the city's underground music scene.

Since returning to Cape Town in 2021, Friend has performed at renowned festivals and prolific venues such as Wolfkop Weekender, Bazique, Habitat, Into The Wild, Afrikaburn, Origin Festival and Modular Club. Often eclectic, sometimes obscure, always tasteful, Friend's forever evolving sound is heavily influenced by his nomadic travels in SE Asia, South America and Europe. Never shy to switch up the genre or tempo, Friend's versatile approach pleases dance floors - blending elements of ambient, house, minimal, techno, electro and breakbeats depending on time, space and the present.
