The End of Spring was a piece put together for an art exhibition in Dublin in April 2024.

The piece consists of reel to reel tape loops, field recordings and granular synthesis, from the archive or composed for the piece, to be played live at the gallery as a soundtrack to the space.

Longer evenings, new beginnings, warm unreliable memories and the end of spring.

This is a live take of the piece.

The End Of Spring

This piece was composed to be featured at a live performance at the Inaugural Irish Psychedelic Research Conference in October 2024.

I composed this piece as a respite, a place to go or be taken to. A ship to float away in. 

This piece is a dreamscape. A deep sleep where emotions and experiences are processed. The dream is visited by transient moments of tangible emotion, places and memories. Temporary moments of grounding which slip away. The end of the piece is a vivid dream, visiting a place from long ago in a brief moment of lucidity before it fragments and disappears into the dawn.

Lophophora is a genus of spineless, button-like cacti. Its native range covers Texas through Mexico to southwestern Mexico. The species are extremely slow growing, sometimes taking up to thirty years to reach flowering age in the wild. The cactus contains psychoactive alkaloids, particularly mescaline.

Tape recordings, analogue synthesis and found sound.
