Here's my problem, I like Christopher Lawrence, I really do, however, I would expect that when debuting a production group, it could be shown they can mix something BESIDES their own tracks? It's childishly simple to sound great when mixing one's own tracks, but how does that fare without train wrecks with something not produced by them mixed in BY THEM? Formulaic is what I would call them. You should have signed Jay Selway instead.

Solarstone presents Pure Trance Radio Episode 457

This months episode comes to you from the Buenos Aires hotel room of Christopher Lawrence where he is in town for UMF. 

This months guest is Jordan Stevens from Las Vegas. Jordan Stevens has a cultivated devotion to reading the dance floor every time he takes control of the tables and invigorates a crowd. For the Georgia-born, Vegas-based DJ, his unbiased approach to electronic dance music insures everyone from the critical club kid to a visitor from middle America will be dancing from when the party starts until last call.

“I enjoy all forms of electronic dance music,” Stevens says. “There’s an element in each genre that I love and incorporate into my sets.” With a perceptive connection and unbiased approach to what any given room craves, Stevens first honed his skills a decade ago in the Vegas underground scene as part of duo Shawn & Stevens with fellow DJ, Kevin Shawn. He earned solo recognition amongst the afterhours set at the legendary Empire Ballroom with a two-year residency, followed by regular stints playing for Godskitchen at Body English and Vanity. Always searching to share his sound, Stevens then earned a coveted residency at The Palms Casino Resort for the launch of Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto at Rain Nightclub, as well weekly gigs at Moon and Ghostbar, earning him a nod by the “Las Vegas Weekly” as the publication’s first “Rising Star DJ” in it’s annual Best of the City awards. 

Accomplished and respected throughout the industry, the seasoned professional has mastered the art of setting up a room proper to carrying clubbers all night—exactly what dance music dominator Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub was looking for when they opened their doors and acquired Stevens as a weekly resident. But his reach goes far beyond the booth in Vegas and Stevens’ previous tour stops include The Colossal Event in Phoenix, Circus in Los Angeles, The Church and Vinyl in Denver, and Tantra in Miami during the Winter Music Conference. Stevens has also captivated crowds at the annual Love Festival in addition to staying grounded with gigs at Obsession, Artisan and Drai’s Afterhours.

Back from another incredible Burning Man and jetting off to Argentina this weekend, Christopher Lawrence checks in with another slamming episode of Rush Hour for September.

This months guest mix is from Grains of Sound, whose new single “Eager" Fingers” / “Paradigm Bag” is out this month on Christopher’s label Pharmacy Music. 

Grains of Sound is the ambient-psy-trance project from brothers Chris (Exeris) & Jason Sevanick, who gained notoriety with their industrial electronic act, Mindless Faith. Always ones to push boundaries, the brothers turned their production talents to the more underground electronic music sound that had captured their attention.

Grains of Sound came to Pharmacy Music with a proven history of creating genre defying psy-trance. In 2007, Grains of Sound released their double-disc debut album "Rays of Life", comprised of Vol. 1 Down (downtempo) and Vol. 2 Under (ambient), on AlterCulture Records. The album received excellent reviews and their follow up album "Sine Language" (2010) received even greater acclaim for their exploration of different styles and energy levels.  From uptempo psychedelic trance, both progressive and minimal, along with hints of house and breaks, to lush, sweeping soundscapes that wash over sub bass frequencies and deep downtempo beats, to Vast evolving layers, organic textures and sentient sounds leave all beats behind, pure ambient intoxication. Fresh from Armada Beach Fest in Argentina, Christopher Lawrence delivers the best new tracks in underground trance. This month features new tracks by Reaky, Cosmithex, Static Movement, Predators, Mind Spin, ManMadeMan, Hypnoise, Nick Callaghan, Indecent Noise, Polaris and remixes by Alchemix and Atoned Splendor.

This months guest mix comes from the UK’s Phil Parry whose debut single 'Anomaly' / 'Scaphism' is released this month on Pharmacy Music. The release has already received support from Allen & Envy, Chris Herrera, Christopher Lawrence, Daniel Kandi, DJ Bissen, DJ Feel, Fergie & Sadrian, Ferry Tayle, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Jonathan Allyn, Manuel Le Saux, Markus Schulz, Martin Libsen, Phil Taylor, Randy Seidman, Renato Dinis and Robert Gitelman.

Phil has been a DJ for a few years and has played on lineups with Above & Beyond, Mark Eteson, Anne Savage, BK and Jaytech. Phil’s weekly show Fusion is now past the 100 mark and can be found on UK based 'Discover Trance Radio' every Tuesday. 

Phi’s next releases 'Fusion' and 'Magnitude' are due for release with Fraction Records. 
2013 is going to be the busiest yet for Phil and hopefully a productive and successful one.
